Chequer’s really is the quaint cozy cottage, set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moor just a mile above the picturesque village of Osmotherley, with stunning views from the cottage, looking up towards the Yorkshire Dales, with they Cleveland Way running along side it. Perfect for Walking, cyclists and Nature lovers (wildlife photographers will be in there elements with over one hundred species of bird life)Originally a drovers’ inn, dating back over 450 years is full of character with its stone floors, old beams and wood burning stoves.
Chequers is a perfect base for the dales, moors, the coast and the beautiful city of York, 20 minutes to the centre from Northallerton train station
You might have seen Chequers before as it featured in BBC Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing Christmas Special! It really is a magical cottage for the festive season.
Children aged 10 years and over and babes in arms are welcome.
*Dogs are welcome to stay May to September only.

Returning to beautiful Chequers

A wonderful welcome hamper to greet us – Thank you so much, fresh flowers and a cosy, clean cottage. Our friends joined us for the first part of the week and they could not believe what a fabulous location and cottage it is. Lots of living space, good bedrooms with en suites and TV’s and Emma the owner was brilliant and very knowledgeable on the local area and all the wildlife! We will definitely aim to go back as it was very relaxing and best fish and chips ever in Osmotherley! Cheers Rob & family

Cosy Cottage
By Elizabeth and Simon on 15-Mar-2024March 2024 Very cosy and comfortable, the cottage is characterful and well appointed with some nice furnishings. The owner was very nice to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area and local fauna. There are two or three low doorways to watch out for, especially the second bedroom, so a bit of ducking and diving for 6 footers is essential. Overall, the house is attractive, very clean, characterful and comfortable andwell equipped for a holiday stay. Easy and clear enough to book, we would book with you Beautiful Escapes and intend to do so. Simon & Elizabeth
