Description

Stone Barn, Vinsobres, Nr. Nyons, Drome, Rhone-Alpes, France -Tranquil, Secluded Location With Village Shop & Bistro 9 Mins Away

La Bergerie is a beautiful, traditional French stone barn, recently renovated to an extremely high standard. It has three double en-suite bedrooms, a large sitting room, downstairs cloakroom, vaulted fully equipped kitchen and dining room with a large terrace off, affording breath-taking views of the surrounding hills and Mont Ventoux. Situated in its own grounds amid the Cote du Rhone vineyards, it has its own private swimming pool (heated May to September), barbecue and numerous outdoor garden seating areas, all with great views.

Cafes, restaurants, markets and local shops are nearby, (nearest village Vinsobres 3 kilometres) as are many wine routes and tourist attractions such as Vaison la Romaine, Mont Ventoux, Nyons, Orange, Avignon, Seguret, Gigondas and Chateauneuf du Pape.

For the more energetic there are local options of walking, cycling, painting, tennis, canoeing, golf, horse-riding, climbing, canyoning, water adventure and skate parks as well as skiing in the winter. There are bikes available to hire.

Located in Provence in the South East of France on the border of Drome Provencal and Vaucluse, the immediate surroundings are a fabulous mix of vineyards, lavender in the summer months, olives and apricot trees.

Facing the Mont Ventoux mountain (famous for the Tour de France cycle race), the area benefits from a Mediterranean climate – hot and dry in the summer and crisp and light in the winter.

The barn is renovated to a very high standard and comfortably furnished with a charming mixture of contemporary and Provencal furniture. There are three double bedrooms en-suite with bathrooms that are all fully tiled and have modern fittings. There are wonderful views from all the pool and terraces. The vaulted kitchen is well equipped and has a new electric oven and hob. There is a microwave and American style fridge/freezer. The dining area seats eight people and leads to the delightful terrace where there are outdoor dining and seating facilities and a BBQ. The barn benefits from wifi as well as satellite TV (English and French channels). There is a washing machine and dryer.

The bed linen and towels are included in the rental price. The barn is cleaned and bed linen and towels changed weekly and the pool and garden maintained weekly. Additional housekeeping can be arranged on request.

Situated amid the Cote du Rhone vineyards, the property has beautiful views with a heated swimming pool and sunbathing area, terrace and a garden with seating, swing play area and BBQ.

A brilliant venue to enjoy a relaxing Provencal holiday in comfort and with breath-taking views.

La Bergerie is a charming stone barn which has been lovingly restored to create a comfortable and modern holiday home whilst still retaining its Provencal character. Benefitting from its own heated swimming pool, the barn is surprisingly large inside (230m) and has three double en-suite bedrooms, all on the first floor. One en-suite bedroom has a double bed, the second en-suite has two single beds and the third en-suite bedroom has a double bed and also a further double bed that can be used either as another bed or a day bed. This last bedroom is very large and if required, the owners can put the two single beds in this room together with one double bed, thus accommodating 8 people instead of 6.

On the ground floor there is an entrance hall with cloakroom, a large sitting room with two comfortable x three seater sofas and chairs, coffee table, wood burning stove, writing area, satelite TV (French and English programmes), DVD and Wifi. Glass patio doors look out of the sitting room to a courtyard area with an olive tree towards the rear of the house where the owners live. Both properties are completely private and have their own separate entrances. Also on the ground floor is a characterful vaulted kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully fitted with a new electric double oven, electric hob, microwave and American style fridge/freezer with ice-making facility. The kitchen is well stocked for up to eight people and in the dining areas there is a modern dining table and chairs. A door leads out from the dining area to the terrace which has spectacular uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. There is an outside dining area on the terrace with its own barbecue. Next to the terrace is the pool (9x4 m). This has a powered pool security cover and is heated from May to September. There are loungers and parasols round the pool. The peaceful garden sits alongside the barn. It affords spectacular uninterrupted views of the hills, vineyards and olive grove.

Own private pool 9 x 4 metres with electric security cover. Heated May to September. Great uninterrupted views over the hills and Mont Ventoux. Sun-bathing area.

Golf Orange, 2247 Route de Camaret, 84100 Orange, France. 9 holes. 37km - 45 minutes by car. Fairly flat but interesting.
Golf de la Drome Provençale chemin de la balle blanche 26130 Clansayes
France 35 km - 40 minutes by car. More challenging.

Mont Ventoux is approximately 45km - 1hr from Vinsobres. Skiing in winter and a cycling Mecca all year round.

Tennis court available to book in Vinsobres - 3 km away.

Sejour merveilleux à la bergerie !

By Dominique DRIE on 18-Jun-2020

Faultless

La Bergerie is a beautiful place. The setting is perfect with views across the vineyards to the mountains and the peace broken only by the sound of crickets. The house was spotlessly clean and a good place to cool down even in the record breaking temperatures we experienced. The decor is lovely. Everything is so well appointed and comfortable. We were met by Sarah on arrival who greeted us with great friendliness. From then on the place was our own. We swam in the pool in delightful seclusion and ate outside with not another soul in sight. This is the perfect place for an undisturbed getaway. Nearby Nyons and Vinsobres are pretty towns with restaurants and cafes and a lovely Sunday market in Nyons. There are vineyards and olive farms selling their produce everywhere and it was all well worth sampling. I cannot fault La Bergerie and hope to return again one day.

Delightful

By Roger G on 15-Oct-2018

La Bergerie is a beautifully restored barn in a very rural area surrounded by hilly countryside with vineyards, olive groves and forested areas. The barn has been converted very tastefully and offers very comfortable accommodation with a large kitchen/dining area with a vaulted ceiling; a large comfortable sitting room; a very attractive master 2xdouble bedroom with a partitioned shower room; a further double and a twin room, all ensuite. The kitchen is very generously equipped with the facilities to do serious cooking if required, and reasonably efficient wifi is available. Everything was in good condition and spotlessly clean. Outside is quite spacious and is not overlooked by the hosts, who live in the adjoining (but quite separate) farmhouse. The heated pool is a good size, uniform depth of about 140cm. It is not sheltered so can feel a bit exposed if it is windy. It can be seen from the road so is overlooked but the road is very quiet so this is not really any problem. There is plenty of outside furniture for eating and relaxing. Vinsobres is a delightful little Cotes du Rhone wine producing village about 4Km to the south with a wonderful traditional french cafe where we had a superb meal one evening (check opening times and reserve before going) and Venterol,7Km to the north, also has a cafe where we had an equally good meal - again check times particularly out of season. The hosts were most helpful when we needed help and advice but were in no way intrusive, allowing us to get on on our own otherwise. They provide a comprehensive handbook for the house and surrounds, including guidance for a number of walks, mostly starting from the house - we did several of these and found them excellent - fairly easy walking mainly on tracks with wonderful views of the countryside around. There is also a lot of information regarding local attractions, facilities and restaurants. We would very happily stay here again and would recommended it as a very comfortable house to stay in for 6 or perhaps 8 people, if two couples didn't mind sharing the main bedroom.

Simply stunning accommodation and location!

By Jane L on 15-Jul-2018

We arrived at the property after a long drive through France and were immediately overwhelmed by the views which literally surround the property. Sarah and David were welcoming hosts and the pool and property far better than the pictures suggested. We loved the local walks, the superb wine tasting (keep an eye out for an evening tasting in the local towns and villages as you get a great opportunity to sample the best local vineyards can offer), and the peace and quiet. The accommodation was comfortable and provided everything we could have wished for. Great days out are in easy reach and there is a really comprehensive local information pack kindly collated by the owners. We loved kayaking under the Pont Du Gard in particular. The hosts home faces the opposite way to the barn and it feel like we were completely alone which allowed the children to noisily enjoy the pool in peace. Already planning our next stay here- a sublime holiday where we felt welcomed from the second we arrived.

Amazing picture perfect!

The home and grounds were perfect. The owners amazing and the town a delight! Nothing could have been done to make the trip better. We will be back!!!!

Excellent

Stunning location. The barn is very attractively and comfortably furnished, with great attention to detail - beautiful soaps, firelighters for the BBQ, etc. Very well equipped with all mod cons, and David and Sarah are the most delightful and welcoming hosts. Plenty to do in the area, great local walks, and Nimes airport easy to use. We would love to visit again. Highly recommended.
