Part of a complex of grade 11 listed barns that used to be outbuildings to the local farm, permission was granted in the 1980’s to convert them so that their architectural heritage could be preserved. The history of Rowden Court goes back to the 1870s when Lord Revelstoke, formerly Edward Baring of the Baring Brothers Bank, spent a huge amount of money on his Membland Hall estate, consisting of 4,000 acres of South Hams countryside. This included building a 10 mile coastal carriage drive for his wife, along which walks can still be enjoyed. Access to the drive and the stunning coast path is a short distance from Dormouse.
With 2 bedrooms, kitchen/diner and spacious lounge, Dormouse has plenty of space for a family of 4 or 2 couples.
The twin bedroom is located on the ground floor whilst the master bedroom, furnished with a double bed, is upstairs and enjoys fabulous views over the surrounding countryside. The family bathroom is beautifully and incredibly spacious, fitted with all the necessities including bath with shower over.
The dual aspect lounge is modern and light, furnished with 2 comfy sofas, smart tv and oak flooring completes the modern, clean feel. A glass door opens out on to the beautiful communal gardens where you benefit from landscaped gardens without the hard work!
All the cottages share a communal laundry room complete with washing machines and tumble dyers. This space also doubles up as a games room with table tennis and darts.
The South West Coast Path is less than half a mile away so you can be on the cliffs within minutes. The beaches of Stoke and Mothecombe are within easy access with the popular School House Restaurant on the Erme estuary only a few miles along the coast road. This part of the South Hams is great for dog lovers as so many of our beaches allow our four legged friends.
