Description

A luxurious and idyllically situated two bedroomed holiday cottage which is spacious with two double bedrooms both en suite, one of which is on the ground floor. Easily accessible for York as the Park & Ride is just a 15 minute drive away, Castle Howard 5 minutes drive, Moors National Park 30 minutes & North Yorkshire Coast just 45 minutes.

Set in two thirds of an acre, and sitting 300 feet above the city of York on a small sheep farm. The wooded hillside lies between two castles. The dramatic ruins of King Richard III’s Sheriff Hutton Castle and the Baroque majesty of Castle Howard (famous as the location for many film and TV series including Brideshead Revisited). Off the beaten track with big views over the Yorkshire Wolds & the Vale Of York, yet just 12 miles away from the ancient walled city of York. Our guests say they really love the peace and quiet here after a days sightseeing in York or the coast and we get lots of positive feedback about what a great nights sleep they enjoyed in our King Size & Super King Size beds with memory foam toppers.

The accommodation has marble tiled floors with under floor heating. A light & spacious living/kitchen with leather sofas, dining for up to 6 persons. Ground floor bedroom with en suite wetroom and 1st floor en suite bedroom with super king size bed or twin beds. Bring your walking boots and the dog along too as we are pet friendly and surrounded by scenic traffic free woods, public footpaths and fields to walk in and a large woodside garden with summerhouse and al fresco dining table to enjoy. There is a charge of just £20 per dog stay. (2 maximum or 3 if small breeds).

Super lovely cottage in a fabulous location on top of the Howardian Hills overlooking the Vale of York. Local walks out the door in beautiful countryside through farmland and woods. Cottage located at end of farm road in secluded hamlet. Great place for dog owners. Nearby pubs are dog friendly and serve good food. It’s a quiet area but near to York or Castle Howard for town or touristy stuff. Also 30mibs from North York Moors. We’re regular visitors to this area and this is one of the best places we’ve stayed in.

Lovely cottage, lovely stay

By Higham on 15-Dec-2023

"Stayed December 2023, but was lovely and warm. Lovely cottage. Everything you could need. Very comfortable extremely quiet location and Sat Nav found address and postcode easily. Cottage is spotlessly clean and caters for every need. Owners respected your privacy but easily contacted and friendly, Richard and Kim and of course Ruby their dog. Thank you for lovely stay. x" Ratings: Location Cleanliness Service/Staff Facilities Would Recommend: Yes

Brilliant Visit

By Amy on 02-Nov-2023

This is a great place to stay and we had a brilliant visit. The area is beautiful, very quiet and rural with great walks from the door and all the shops and attractions of York a short drive away. There are, as Richard said, a surprising number of nice places to eat within a short drive, too. The cottage itself is lovely: spotlessly clean, well-presented and well-equipped. The kids loved having their own ‘suite’ upstairs and though the stairs are steep they were no problem at all. We were warm and cosy, despite Storm Babet’s best efforts! Richard and Kim were friendly and helpful hosts, providing a warm welcome and some really useful information and recommendations.
