Super lovely cottage in a fabulous location on top of the Howardian Hills overlooking the Vale of York. Local walks out the door in beautiful countryside through farmland and woods. Cottage located at end of farm road in secluded hamlet. Great place for dog owners. Nearby pubs are dog friendly and serve good food. It’s a quiet area but near to York or Castle Howard for town or touristy stuff. Also 30mibs from North York Moors. We’re regular visitors to this area and this is one of the best places we’ve stayed in.
"Stayed December 2023, but was lovely and warm. Lovely cottage. Everything you could need. Very comfortable extremely quiet location and Sat Nav found address and postcode easily. Cottage is spotlessly clean and caters for every need. Owners respected your privacy but easily contacted and friendly, Richard and Kim and of course Ruby their dog. Thank you for lovely stay. x" Ratings: Location Cleanliness Service/Staff Facilities Would Recommend: Yes
Gorgeous location, very comfy beds, warm, cosy, very clean and perfectly equipped. One of the best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed it. Thank you x
This is a great place to stay and we had a brilliant visit. The area is beautiful, very quiet and rural with great walks from the door and all the shops and attractions of York a short drive away. There are, as Richard said, a surprising number of nice places to eat within a short drive, too. The cottage itself is lovely: spotlessly clean, well-presented and well-equipped. The kids loved having their own ‘suite’ upstairs and though the stairs are steep they were no problem at all. We were warm and cosy, despite Storm Babet’s best efforts! Richard and Kim were friendly and helpful hosts, providing a warm welcome and some really useful information and recommendations.

Really enjoyed our stay and feel lucky to have found it. The fact there were two ensuites made getting up and getting out easy in the morning. There was just about everything you could want or think of. From all the basic kitchen needs to a bluetooth speaker for music from your phone. Phone signal wasn''t great but wifi makes any comms you need easy. Had a great walk in the woods which are just behind the house. The location is quiet and you need a car but that is a plus in that you are away from normal life. There is a great shopping park at Monks Cross York which has everything you need on the way to the house. Richard and Kim are great hosts and enquired if there was anything they could do to improve staying there on the last day. Pretty hard to do as they have thought of just a
