Description
Welcome to Mur Crusto Bach, a lovely detached holiday cottage in a peaceful location on our small organic fruit and vegetable farm. It is situated within easy driving distance of both the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) to the east and the delightful coastline and beautiful sandy beaches of the Llyn Peninsula to the west. It is just 6 miles from Pwllheli and Criccieth and 11 miles from Porthmadog. (Portmeirion nearby). Mur Crusto Bach is beautifully furnished and a true eco-cottage with photovoltaic solar panels, underfloor heating, thick insulation and a log burner which make it a cosy retreat no matter the season.
Accommodating 4 guests Mur Crusto Bach is ideal for families wishing to enjoy a seaside holiday and also for those looking for more energetic activities. It is 300m from the public road and therefore excellent for children, and anyone looking for a peaceful place to just get away from it all and relax. The spacious conservatory offers wonderful views over Cardigan Bay and the mountains to the east. You can even see the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on a clear day. It is also the perfect place to watch the evening sun light up the mountains, and with little light pollution the stars at night can be spectacular.
There are wonderful walks nearby, from invigorating strolls along the beaches to challenging hikes up the mountains. The famous St Cybi's well is only 10 minutes walk from the cottage and if you walk further to the top of the hill (Garn Bentyrch) you will be in an ironage hill fort and can enjoy a magnificent view of the whole of Eryri. A cycle route passes the end of our drive and there are plenty of quiet country lanes so bring your bikes!
There is so much to see and do here whatever the weather. The Unesco World Heritage castles of Harlech, Caernarfon and Conwy are all within easy reach as are the famous Snowdon, Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland narrow gauge steam railways. From zip wires to underground trips into slate mines and the Dwyfor Rabbit farm and Greenwood Park for children, there is always something to do for everyone.
The cottage itself retains much of its original character, with weathered stone walls and rustic wooden beams. The open-plan kitchen and living area provides the perfect setting for relaxing and socializing with Velux windows flooding the space with natural light. Our guests are welcome to explore the farm's grounds at their leisure. We have converted our fields to hay meadows with trees planted around the margins and have a “nature reserve” with a small lake. We have 2 polytunnels where we grow fruit and vegetables
From its idyllic countryside setting to its commitment to sustainable living, Mur Crusto Bach offers a truly unique holiday experience in North Wales. Whether exploring the many local attractions or simply unwinding in the comfort of the cottage, guests are sure to create lasting memories in this charming rural retreat.
