Overview
Description
The Walnut is a beautiful barn conversion, deep in the Norfolk countryside but close to lots of wonderful beaches. Converted in 2018, The Walnut is a single storey barn conversion in a peaceful, rural location where the views across the fields from the bedrooms, lounge and courtyard are uninterrupted and far-reaching. The views and huge Norfolk skies can also be enjoyed from the warm, bubbling, luxuriousness of the hot tub – what could be better than laying back in the hot tub after a long walk along one of our local beaches! And how about stargazing, watching shooting stars, the space station – we’ve seen them all in the night skies from the hot tub while listening to the local Tawny owls calling and watching the Barn owls drift silently by. There are quiet footpaths nearby; long walks, short walks, circular walks and there are maps provided in Walnut for you to use during your stay.Parking: There is dedicated parking for two large cars, possibly more by arrangement, in the gravelled yard. If you arrive after dark, there is automatic, movement activated lighting in the parking area and courtyard.
Entry through the courtyard from the parking area into the open-plan lounge and kitchen-diner area. There is Karndean flooring throughout the Walnut. The kitchen has all the usual appliances with an electric Aga, combination microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, kettle and 50/50 fridge-freezer. There’s plenty of room for two or more people to cook together. There’s the usual crockery and cooking equipment, tea towels, cook-book etc and vintage pine dining table with four chairs.
The Lounge is part of the open-plan living area. There are two comfortable sofas, large flat-screen QLED Smart TV, family games and books. There are bi-fold doors which open onto the fully enclosed courtyard.
The Courtyard is enclosed with a 6ft wall to one side separating it from the rest of the site and 3ft wooden fencing around to allow uninterrupted views across the Norfolk countryside. In one corner is the five-seater hot tub with 23 jets that relieve tension in targeted areas including your back, neck, shoulders and calves and the directional Hydromassage jets allow you to customise your massage to give you soothing comfort exactly where you need it.
There is enough seating for nine at the outside coffee table which converts into a dining table for al-fresco eating. The large parasol has solar-powered lighting.
Bedroom One has a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed with wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with directional lighting, hair dryer and Smart QLED TV. The en-suite shower room has a walk-in, floor-level rainfall shower, toilet, hand-basin, shaver point, radiator and storage.
Further along the hall is the second bathroom with full size bath, overhead shower, toilet, hand-basin, shaver point, radiator and storage.
Bedroom Two has a king size bed which can be split into two single beds for flexible sleeping arrangements. Clothes storage in two chest of drawers. Bedside tables and bench.
Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.
The Walnut is a non-smoking property.
We occasionally offer short breaks out of season but you would need to contact us for availability as we are usually fully booked with weekly or fortnightly bookings.
The Walnut is a detached property but shares the parking area and plot with the two other cottages on site, Bumblebee and Peanut.

Leave ReviewChristmas 2024
By Kelly on 01-Jan-2025Our first time staying away for Christmas. On arrival to the property you could see how much time and care the hosts put into the property including so many personal touches for Christmas, we were blown away. We had the most relaxing Christmas week, the property is perfect and the hot tub is a bonus feature! It's refreshing to see somewhere decorated so lovely and be completely dog friendly, we will 100% be back.

Perfect for a Day Staycation
By Maria on 10-Nov-2024The Walnut is a little gem. Everything is provided for both humans and dogs. It’s warm, comfortable and well equipped. The location is perfect for country and beach walks and we did both every day - a great way to wear our 9 month old puppy out!
The Walnut Sept 2024
By Helen on 06-Oct-2024We had a lovely week relaxing with our 2 dogs at the Walnut. The accommodation was very comfortable and finished to a high standard. The dogs were not just allowed, as with some other dog friendly holiday accommodation we have stayed at, but they were positively welcomed with a box of treats they enjoyed and a whole basket full of useful things like bowls and toys. There were no issues with being allowed on furniture either with throws provided which took away any stress of trying to keep them off the sofas! We loved the peaceful area and having never been to Norfolk before we enjoyed many long walks on the nearby beaches and woods. The beaches were quiet which was brilliant for our reactive dog. A useful book of local places to walk was also provided. We were welcomed by the owners who were really friendly and helpful and had a lovely basket of local produce left for us as well as many useful items such as plenty of loo rolls and washing up liquid etc which was thoughtful and appreciated. The owners were always available if needed but were never intrusive. We loved sitting in the gorgeous hot tub under the huge night sky and listening to the barn owls in the adjoining fields. We were even lucky enough to spot one flying over the field at dusk! Many thanks to Paul and Stella for welcoming us to The Walnut. We will be very happy to come back and stay again.
Lovely Place To Stay
By Lee & Claire on 04-Aug-2024We have just had a really nice week at the Walnut and couldnt of been happier. A really clean well kept cottage set in a good location. If you like the peaceful quiet life with country views and relaxing in the hot tub or plenty of green lane walks then you will love it here. Great Yarmouth is a 25 minute drive away if you are looking for a more busy day, lots to do for any age group and quite good prices. At the Walnut they have clearly gone above and beyond to make sure dogs are not just welcome but very much looked after. Lovely large paddock for your dogs to play in, big basket full of dog toys, blankets, bowls and everything you need to keep your pets entertained, The owners Paul and Sue are very friendly and helpful and have done a really good job in making your stay as enjoyable as possible.
