Description

Noirmoutier is a French island an hour’s drive west of Nantes and is in the Bay of Biscay. It’s connected to the mainland by bridge and the iconic Passage du Gois causeway, accessible only at low tide. The property is set next to the Church in Le Vieil, at the North end of the Island. It is 80m from the nearest beach and also a 3 minute walk to the centre of Le Vieil which has a small supermarket and a number of other small shops, bars / cafes.

The main town of Noirmoutier-en-L’ile is 2.5km away and has a lovely market 3 times a week in season, many decoration, clothing and food shops and Restaurants. There is plenty to do across the Island from tennis, sailing, horse-riding, fishing, windsurfing, kite surfing and land sailing to just relaxing on one of the many beaches.

Noirmoutier has a deep seaport at l’Herbaudiere which attracts many large and small yachts.
It also has a very well-known 3 Michelin star restaurant, and many lovely sea food restaurants, simpler ones and Creperies.
In summer there is a small free bus to get to town, the nearby Spar rents out bicycles.

The property was built in classic Noirmoutier style in 2008 and has been repainted over the past 3 years. It is entered through a double gate into the front garden, which is walled, extremely secure and child friendly. There is a wooden patio which is an ideal place to have lunch, dinner or just sit and relax in the afternoon sunshine.

From the patio a door opens directly into the living space with a vaulted ceiling and lots of light from the double glass doors / windows on both sides of the room. This large, light filled room has an open fireplace with a sofa and single chairs to provide plenty of seating. The evening lighting is provided through a number of feature lights located around the room. Across this room, as across the whole of the house, there are many pictures and personal touches that befits a house that has over the years been and continues to be used as a second home. There is also table football for those who want to be competitive and have fun.

In the sitting area there is a TV with a DVD player connected to it and a selection of DVD’s for use. There is also a radio/CD player in the kitchen area that is Bluetooth enabled.

At the opposite end of this light and airy room room is a dining area with a with a large table, able to comfortably seat 8 to10 people. This is next to the kitchen area which has been cleverly designed so you don’t see the work space from the sitting area. There is a large fridge, a cooker with electric hob and extractor fan and an electric oven. There is also a microwave, dishwasher as well as a coffee maker (Nespresso) which uses pods, a kettle and toaster. There are storage units and drawers with a very good selection of cookware, quality crockery, and glassware.

From the sitting end of the room, you access two of the four bedrooms that are on this level. The first is through the door, turn left and down a couple of steps to the Master suite which has its own access to the front garden and a lovely view of the garden and Church Tower next door. There is a large built-in cupboard, a desk and chair, should you need to do some work, and also a sofa. The ensuite bathroom has a double sink, shower and separate toilet.

The second bedroom is to the right through the door and has a built-in cupboard, a double bed, table and access directly to the back garden. Its bathroom is located separately between it and the master bedroom with a shower, sink and toilet.

The other two bedrooms at this level are accessed from a hallway which is through the archway past the dining table. To the right is a storage area for coats and shoes before you reach the first bedroom. This is spacious and has a King size double bed with a chair, side tables and a built-in cupboard. Through the window you look out onto the front garden. The second bedroom is also spacious with a single bed, a built-in cupboard a bedside table, chair and shelf with children’s books. It also looks out onto the front garden. At the end of the corridor before you reach the door to the garage and the utility room there is a separate toilet and bathroom with bath tub and hand shower.

The utility room is accessed via the door to the garage at the end of this hallway. In the utility room there is a freezer, washing machine and dryer. There is also a cupboard holding the hoover, mop, brushes etc and two clothes horses for the drying of washing. You can access the back garden through the utility room.

The 5th bedroom is upstairs and accessed via an outside stairway in the back garden reached by exciting the living room to the back garden. The upstairs bedroom is extremely spacious and has three single beds together with a desk, chair and a set of drawers. The windows look out and over the front garden and across the roofs of the nearby houses. On this level there is also a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet.

The back garden is extremely sheltered with sunshine from the morning until early afternoon. The wooden patio is a perfect area for having breakfast outside on one of the outdoor dining tables provided.

The front garden benefits from the afternoon and evening sunshine and again there is a large patio with outdoor table and chairs. There are deckchairs and extra outdoor chairs stored in the garage as well as a charcoal burning barbecue.

There are a couple of garden umbrellas available to use. There is also available a baby highchair, some children’s buckets and spades and a rattle and baskets for shell fishing.
