“The Burrow” ground floor self contained apartment at WOODLANDS, sleeps four in comfort and is ideal for holidays or short get-aways either as a base for activities around Cornwall, or as a quiet, secluded and relaxing break. The Burrow has been finished and equipped to the highest standards. It is ideal for two couples, or a small family. We can install an additional single bed in one of the bedrooms if required. A private drive ensures secure parking, right outside your apartment.
This unique and exceptional building is located in secluded land on the outskirts of the rural hamlet of Black Cross, just 7 miles from Newquay and a few minutes from the main A30 trunk road., thus central to all areas of Cornwall.
Designed and built just a few years ago by specialist architects, WOODLANDS enjoys relaxing views over the surrounding countryside. The Woodlands project became a finalist in the highly contested “Best Individual Dwelling” category of the LABC Building Excellence Awards. It was selected in recognition of the high standards of Eco design, construction and workmanship. It also featured on a national television show.
Clad in Douglas Fir, this imposing and extremely attractive property is fitted with all the latest eco-friendly systems including a ground source heat pump, full under floor heating and a heat recovery and ventilation system. Water is pumped from our own bore hole and is beautifully clear.
The ground floor self-contained apartment is called “THE BURROW” and comprises a large lounge and dining area, with full kitchen facilities. It enjoys superb views over surrounding private grounds.This apartment has also been finished to the highest standards.
A dedicated front door opens into the hallway, which leads to the large, open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. A WC and store cupboard are also just off the hallway.
LOUNGE - DINING AREA
A spacious lounge area, with swivel and sofa seats offering secluded views over the garden. Dining table and chairs for six, plus four bar stools. Various combinations of lighting can be selected to match your mood. The apartment is fully furnished with all standard comforts including televisions in lounge (Smart TV) and both bedrooms, with Wifi throughout.
KITCHEN
The modern kitchen features a ceramic hob, double oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. It includes pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses, in fact, everything you will need.
BEDROOMS
There are two large double bedrooms each with opening doors onto the outside patio area. Jack Bedroom: Kingsize Double Bed, with deep Tempur foam mattress. Jill Bedroom: Super Kingsize Bed with quality sprung, comfortable mattress. All bed linen and towels are supplied.
BATHROOM
The ‘Jack and Jill’ bathroom adjoins both bedrooms with locking doors. It features a large walk-in shower area, plus low level WC. (There is a second WC by front door).

DISABLED VISITORS
The whole of the apartment is on the ground floor and the new walk-in shower unit makes it ideal for disabled visitors.
BABIES
A cot and high chair, plus various toilet sears are available on request. Please supply your own bedding for the cot. See image on this page.
PARKING
Secure off-road parking is right outside the front of the apartment.
PATIO
Sliding patio doors open from each bedroom onto a large enclosed back patio. This area features a dining table and parasol, plus Table Tennis and a BBQ area. It provides an excellent sunny area for alfresco dining or simply to relax.
GARDENS
Visitors can wander and enjoy the seclusion of the extensive private gardens. There are ponds at the bottom of the gardens so small children need to be accompanied at all times. A swing and large trampoline is also available, subject to agreed supervision. A games box is near the front doorwith a selection of garden games.
RESTRICTED MOBILITY/DISABLED
The Burrow is all on one level, so convenient for disabled or restricted mobility persons. However there are two steps up into the bath / shower.
NEWQUAY AIRPORT
Newquay Airport is nearby, with quick links to the capital, the North, and beyond. Collection from and back to the airport can be arranged at no cost.
