Description

Cosy Characterful Welsh cottage full of original features yet well kitted out with all mod cons. Arwel is a charming seaside cottage within walking distance of the stunning West Wales coast. Set in Nanternis a peaceful pretty hamlet near New Quay West Wales.
A couple of steps and a sloping footpath leads to the cottage stable door. (May not be suitable for the infirm). Inside is a characterful lounge dining room with comfy sofas around a cosy woodburning stove (initial logs provided) and large flat screen smart TV, Fibre broadband access is available throughout and central heating can be controlled for your own comfort. The extremely well-equipped kitchen at the rear has a ceramic top cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and washing machine.
Traditional cottage staircase leads up to 2 bedrooms and a family shower room. The main bedroom has a pretty kingsize bed and even a rolltop slipper bath. Enjoy an idyllic soak as you listen to the many birds in the surrouning wooded valley. Bedroom 2 has a traditional curtained box bed, also kingsize, accessed from one side only. The shower room has a corner power shower, toilet and basin. Original wooden partitions and floors have been lovingly restored to give a cosy charm to the whole cottage. There are plenty of books and games for those relaxing evenings by the fire. Stairgates are fitted and we have a travel cot & highchair available by prior arrangement.
Steps lead up from the side gate and back kitchen door to the terraced garden at the rear of the cottage. There are 2 terraces at the back from which you can enjoy lovely rural and woodland views.
There is also a sunny area outside the front door of the cottage where you can sit in the morning sun. There is no gate between this area and the road so children and dogs will need to be supervised when using it. Arwel is semi-detached and the neighbouring property is accessed via the footpath in front.
There is a private carparking space at the cottage. A short walk along the lane leads to a lovely footpath through the woods via waterfalls to the "secret beach" at Cwm Silio. No roads to this beach so it is a real peaceful haven. You can access the all wales coast path here to explore the many stunning coves, beaches and coastal views. Dolphins and Seals are often spotted along this stretch of the heritage coastline.
New Quay is less that 2 miles from the cottage where you can take a boat trip along the coast or sit and enjoy the wonderful seaviews from one of the many friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants. The pretty fishing village of Llangrannog is just 4 miles away and Cwmtydu with its resident seal population is just a couple of miles away too.
Arwel is idyllically situated for explore this stunningly unspoilt area.
Please note that Arwel me not be suitable for anyone who is infirm due to the steps and sloping path access from the carpark space, along with the stepped access to the back garden. Please contact us prior to booking if you need advice.

By June & Paul on 16-Sep-2024

Beautiful cottage & so tastefully furnished, Keeping with the original but with all mod cons. Walks fantastic around here! Found one from Rhydferwig myself so added short description for others to enjoy in future. Nearest shop is at Cross Inn along with a pub. Many thanks & also for arranging the sun to shine 5 Cont. days!! A record for 2024 Summer

Just Perfect!

By Sven, George & Fredi on 02-Sep-2024

Thank you for a most lovely and restful stay at Arwel! We have had the best time and the weather has been kind. Arwel is a stunning cottage and we have been very comfortable during our stay. The “secret beach” (Traeth Soden) is an absolute must visit abd we had a great day of walking & chilling. We saw seals at Cwmtydu and visited a beach a day! A visit to Teifi Dairy is a must and their cheese is sublime! This really is a magical part of the world and Arwel has been the perfect place from which to explore and rest!

Swimming with the Seals!

By The Witt Family on 26-Aug-2024

Wonderful first stay in Arwel. The cottage is so cosy & has everything you need. We have enjoyed exploring this beautiful part of Wales. Lots of ice-cream, fish & chips at New Quay. We even saw some dolphins there. The weather has been lovely and sunny so have been to some fab beaches and were able to go swimming every day. At the secret beach there was a seal swimming a few metres away from us. We look forward to returning, Thank you

Lovely to be back again!

By The Wood Family on 22-Jun-2024

It was lovely returning to Arwel – such a lovely, homely cottage with wonderful walks and wildlife right on the doorstep. We loved walking from Traeth Gwyn to New Quay at low tide, as well as taking a stroll around Aberaeron. Both New Quay and Aberaeron are brilliant for ice-creams! On the beach we saw a seal and found many lovely sea shells and crabs. The tree top patio has been lovely and it is wonderful and magical to see bats flitting about at night. We have also been lucky enough to see a toad numerous times, it is friendly & well camouflaged so watch out on the steps near the wood store. Thank you so much for this delightful, refreshing break in this incredible part of Wales. We look forward to returning.
