Description

Cider cottage is situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels. Part of the 17th century Muchelney Ham Farm the cottage, which sleeps five people, is self contained and an ideal escape from the fast-paced modern world. This historic area close to the ruins of Muchelney Abbey offers great opportunities for walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists and fishermen and the cottage, whilst furnished to a high standard, offers the peace of times long gone. The garden from the cottage stretches down to a stream with local wildlife including deer, heron and swans. In the summer it is an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic or a cool glass of wine. The cottage is warm and cosy in the winter and is particularly popular around Christmas time providing the ideal setting for an old-fashioned family get together. Those who wish to use the cottage as a base to tour this very beautiful part of England will find it very convenient for both the North and South coasts and for Exmoor.

Notes on bedrooms:
Bedroom 1 has a double bed, hand basin, and a bathroom alongside with bath, WC and basin.
Bedroom 2 with double bed and single bed, WC and hand basin.

Downstairs there is a separate bathroom with an excellent modern shower, toilet, basin and bidet. There is an automatic washing machine by the downstairs bathroom.
Upstairs
There is a separate bathroom alongside Bedroom 1 with bath, toilet and basin.

The kitchen area includes cooker, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and all crockery and cutlery.

The sitting room is traditionally furnished with TV and DVD player. There is also free internet availability.

NB: The sitting room, dining room and kitchen area is open plan (all one room).

Notes on accommodation:
The property is ideal for a family country break. All linen, towels and an automatic washing machine are provided.

During high season weekly stays generally involve arriving Saturday afternoon and leaving Saturday morning.

Outside:
Gardens leading to a stream. Outdoor furniture is provided and there are several outdoor tables and chairs to allow for eating outdoors.

Utility Area:
Vacuum cleaner and sun loungers are available for guests.

Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service:
Towels and linen are all included. Cleaning is carried out at the change over of the cottage.

Other:
The kitchen, dining room and living room is a large open-plan area. There is a large long dining table, ideal for family meals and get togethers.

Long-term lets can be available outside of high season. Please call or email for availability and to discuss rates.

Special interest holidays:
There are several very interesting National Trust properties close by along with Lytes Cary gardens, Montacute House and East Lambrook gardens. Walking, cycling and fishing are very popular. There are several local golf clubs, the nearest being Long Sutton about three miles away, as well as Yeovil, Taunton and Sherborne.

Coast/Beach:
Lyme Regis and Bridport are approx 25 miles away to the South on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, and Minehead and Dunster are about 35 miles north.

Travel:
Bristol, Bournemouth and Exeter airports are about 40, 60 and 50 miles away respectively.

Distances:
Taunton 16 miles. Bridgewater 15 miles. Langport 3 miles. Yeovil 10 miles.

Further Details:
THE AREA

Langport (3 miles away, turn right on leaving the farm) has a small Tesco on the outskirts, and a parking/shopping area in the centre with a fish & chip shop, bakery, butchers, another small supermarket, a number of cafes, Post Office as well as other small local shops and services. There is also the River Parrett.

Martock (3 miles away, turn left on leaving the farm) has a small precinct and car park with a bakery, newsagents, small Co-op, fish & chip shop and a few other small local shops and services.

Both villages have garages.

Ham Hill Country Park is located a few miles past Martock.

Long Sutton (a couple of miles away, turn right on leaving the farm) has a small Spar village shop.

Taunton (about 15 miles) and Yeovil (about 10 miles) are big towns with all the usual shops, eating and entertainment places, etc.

The Jurassic Coast (Lyme Regis round to West Bay in Dorset) is less than an hour away. Likewise Weymouth, a traditional seaside town.

There are many pubs / pub-restaurants around 3+ miles away.

A great place to stay and rest

We had a lovely holiday in a home from home cottage.Very clean and cosy.Excellent bathroom facilities and every cooking utensil etc needed .So quiet too.Have fallen in love with surrounding area.Langport and Somerton great for individual gifts.

A gorgeous place, well equipped For us a lovely change to the countryside. As well as not far to Langport to get groceries. The sheep were a wonderful extra which we all enjoyed feeding. Would recommend this place to anyone.

The bedrooms were charming and the beds very comfortable. The garden was lovely and the children loved the sheep and cows.The surrounding country side was just perfect for walks from the cottage. It was like a home away from home. We look forward to staying here again. Both Sarah and her father were most helpful thank you.

The location is really beautiful with the most stunning countryside all around. Peace and relaxation in spades. The accommodation has everything you need and has a very homely feel about it. The garden is gorgeous, our boys loved playing with the sheep. Jim and Sarah are lovely people who were always on hand if we needed them.

It was very clean and well equiped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The gardens were just amazing as was the surrounding countryside. The owner Jim and his family were very friendly and did everything to ensure we were happy with our stay. There is loads to do in the surrounding area. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway.
