Description

Rosemary Cottage enjoys spectacular sea views, and sits amidst National Trust land, directly opposite the South West Coastal path, and on the edge of the small historic village of Mortehoe, Woolacombe, with its 3 pubs, post office, village store and Church. Try delicious local farmhouse cream teas, and fresh local fish and chips. in the village. Rosemary Cottage faces South, and the views can be enjoyed from nearly all the rooms. There is a PRIVATE parking space, which leads along a new pathway directly to a lengthy private garden ,to the Cottage, then very easy graduated steps up to the front door.. Once inside, the cottage is full of charm, the rooms are bright and light, and the decor is to match. The comfortable and stylish sitting room has two windows, to the South and East, on to the great sea views, and one of the aspects can be enjoyed from the window seat. We have installed a log effect gas fire for comfort and enjoyment. The very well fitted kitchen, with dual gas/electricity cooker, ( in the winter months , also enjoy the warmth of the Aga-style Nobel cooker) leads through to a pretty "bistro-style" dining room. Usefully, there is a good sized old fashioned hatch between the two rooms. A French window leads to an enclosed Courtyard ,and downstairs cloakroom, Upstairs are TWO DOUBLE BEDROOMS , one "en suite" with ROLL TOP BATH (one of the doubles can alter to twin beds, on request) ) Plus a SINGLE BEDROOM, a shower room with loo and basin, both upstairs, giving 2 good facilities, thus with the Cloakroom downstairs, giving a total of 3 loos!! A FANTASTIC ROOF TERRACE leads out of one of the bedroom areas. and once again , enjoy those amazing sea views
Outside, the terrasse has a large long table with benches, for outside al fresco eating with absolutely fabulous views to the sea!
WOOLACOMBE has been crowned BEST BRITISH BEACH for two successive years, Other enchanting beaches include Grunta beach just minutes away, and Barricane beach, where from May onwards and in to the summer months can be found a super "pop-up" mobile "van" doing coffee/tea/food ( including, but not only , curry takeaways ) to have on the beach-really fun sitting with one's picnic, watching the sunset. At the other end of the village, explore Rockham beach-famous as a smugglers haunt.
Woolacombe is just down the hill from the village, with it's superb beach, and with many and varied eateries.

Fabulous Time

By W. Hills on 25-Jul-2024

I had THE most fabulous time at Rosemary Cottage. Honestly-I feel as though I have had a fortnight's holiday at least! It was absolutely perfect in every way! The weather was much better than forecast and we walked miles every day except one-when I got stuck in to a jigsaw I had brought with me! It was absolutely perfect! We met so many lovely people who live in Mortehoe too. I will definitely, definitely be asking you if I can book it again- and have recommended Rosemary Cottage to a few already! Properly perfect!

The cottage is perfectly positioned, still within the lovely village of Mortehoe, but close enough to Woolacombe beach to make it walkable(for the fit!). The cottage is much larger than it looks in the photos and nicely furnished. The beds are comfortable with clean, good quality linen provided. The kitchen/diner is a great size for everyone to congregate, eat and enjoy the warmth from the Aga style range cooker. Which, by the way, is such a bonus to find in a rental property. The views are genuinely amazing, we wore ourselves out taking photos of the sunsets and the sea. I spent lots of time just sitting on the baywindow seat looking out to sea. The owners are really helpful abd friendly, and dealt with requests promptly and efficiently. We have booked our next stay there already!

What a gorgeous cosy cottage with stunning views and equipped with all you need. So quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to chill out. The coastal walks are amazing and everywhere so dog friendly. We will certainly be returning.
