Description

A split-level riverside stone chapel, with river views, created by the conversion of a large Methodist Chapel and Schoolroom, built in 1846 in the conservation area of the historic mill village of Milford, in the wooded valley of the River Derwent. The local area is of great interest to enthusiasts of our industrial heritage is lots of walking close at hand.
This fine stone building has been skilfully converted into a large and most characterful holiday home, offering good quality accommodation, yet retaining much of the Chapel's original character and charm, with exposed beams, some original pews, marble plaques, chapel doors, and with the old pulpit featured in the balconied lower lounge! The Chapel has its own little raised lawned garden with ramp access, and picnic tables and barbecue. There are five bathrooms of which 3 are en suite. All bedrooms except one have a wash basin and the two family bedrooms have an additional shower. The additional stacked trundle beds in the upper lounge are for flexible sleeping.
Sports available in the area include tennis, fishing and bowls, three good riding and trekking stables within a mile or so, several local golf courses, fishing and canoeing in the Derwent, and Belper's fully equipped family Sports Centre just two miles away. The area is noted for its Real Ale and there are four great pubs within half a mile, including The King William Pub, just next door. There are shops and restaurants close by, and easy street parking at the Chapel gate and just down the lane. There are two seven-day supermarkets in Belper 1 1/2 miles up the A6.
It's in an area rich in heritage, with mills, canals, museums and the Derwent Valley Visitor Centre all nearby, and attractions such as the Crich Tramway Village Museum, Matlock Bath's Cable Cars & Gulliver's Kingdom, Alton Towers and the scenic limestone dales of the Peak Park & Carsington Water all an easy drive. 2 sports centres within 4 miles, and climbing, caving, gliding & watersports all under 20 miles

A brilliant place to stay.. Left on Feb 12, 2024 for a stay in Feb 2024.  We stayed here to celebrate my wife''s 70th birthday. There were 19 of us and the place was ideal. Very clean and well equipped- Ann was a very helpful and communicative host. We had a brilliant time and could not have wished for a better venue.   Mr Smith - February 9th 2024

We had the most wonderful weekend and birthday celebrations at Ebenezer Chapel and found the property amazing. The whole family were taken by it. The facilities were excellent and we felt that all out needs were catered for. An excellent choice of venue. We wouldn''t hesitate to use Derbyshire holidays again and have already recommended this property to others.

Mrs Lawson - Review

By Mrs Lawson on 02-Oct-2023

Our group of 12 spent 4 nights in this unusual and spacious accommodation. The rooms and facilities were generally of a high standard with towels and bed linen provided and many of the bedrooms have en suite facilities. The kitchen was well equipped. There is a small garden area with brick barbecues and plenty of chairs. The pub next door is excellent, there is a supermarket 5 minutes drive away and there are lovely walks and a river close by.plus many other attractions within easy driving distance. Everyone in the group enjoyed themselves and would recommend it to others.

Had a superb time at the Ebenezer Chapel. Plenty of bedrooms and space for everyone, and the children enjoyed their separate lounge area. Parking wasn''t a problem with plenty of spaces available on a quiet road.
