Description

Gould’s Farmhouse is a 4 bedroom farmhouse with large enclosed garden in the heart of rural Dorset. A beautiful period farmhouse dating back to 1600s with some original features.

It has recently been completely renovated and is furnished as a second home with antiques but retaining the comforts of modern living. It has a large sitting room and separate dining room as well as a small office offering wireless internet access. There is a lovely south facing conservatory.

The house is ideal for those with limited mobility, as it has a proper lift to the upstairs area, (by prior arrangement only).

Outside there is a large garden with plenty of room for the children to play. Also sun loungers and BBQ. There is a good children's playground 100 yards up the road. The house is within easy walking distance of the post office and village stores, providing basic provisions, and a pub.

The pretty village location offers easy access to the world famous Jurassic Coast and is in the centre of Thomas Hardye country - the fictional town of Casterbridge (Dorchester) being 8 miles distant. The stunning coastline at Lulworth Cover and Durdle Door is just 14 miles away. About a 30 minute drive away is Weymouth Bay which boasts long and sandy beaches with traditional beach entertainments such as donkey rides and Punch and Judy. Within 20 minutes you can visit the acclaimed Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. For the younger visitors Farmer Palmers is less than 30 minutes away.

Wonderful 2 week stay

By David on 10-Aug-2024

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at Gould’s Farmhouse. Nicola was really friendly and helpful and helped make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. The farmhouse and gardens were lovely and great for the dogs. It was fun to try out the Aga - great roast potatoes take about an hour forty five minutes! We found the village very welcoming with a good local store and pub. There are nice local walks as well, I especially liked to walk to Weatherby Castle and Tolpuddle is only a 2 mile walk away. Dorset is beautiful and we had easy access to walk the Coast Path from Kimmeridge Bay to Lyme Regis. We enjoyed trips to Dorchester, Blandford, Weymouth, Portland and Lyme Regis. A bit further afield is the Square and Compass pub at Worth Matravers, great views, pasties and pints!”

A special place to celebrate

Lovely stay our second! Thank you Nicola! Hope to be back again soon! Another fantastic holiday and already planning our next visit. A special place to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary with our family!

Excellent Location for accessing local attractions

By Andrew on 13-Apr-2024

We really enjoyed our stay at Gould’s Farmhouse. It has a lot of character and was ideal for our family group. We found it to be in an excellent location for accessing the local attractions and, as we said, we hadn’t realised there was so much to see and do. Brilliant holiday. Brownsea Island was the children’s favourite place – especially the red squirrels

Our fifth visit

By Sue on 06-Jan-2024

We have had a fabulous few days at the farmhouse. The horrendous wind and rain did not worry us. Our grandson enjoyed looking after the open fire,. Our fifth time here and we look forward to our sixth.

Gould’s Farmhouse provided us with a very comfortable environment to stay

By Steve on 31-Jul-2023

We both really enjoyed our weeks stay at Gould’s Farmhouse at the end of July 2023 so much so we will definitely be staying there again . When choosing somewhere to stay we have to have Dog friendly at the top of our search filters which first brought Gould’s Farmhouse to our attention . Our two black Labradors also enjoyed their stay sleeping next to the warmth of the Aga at night the large secure garden provided a safe area for them in the daytime . Gould’s Farmhouse provided us with a very comfortable environment to stay in and Nicola the owner who’s family’s home this was going back to the 1940’s was always just a phone call away and nothing was too much trouble . Just a few minutes walk away is the award wining Pub The Royal Oak which serves food all day but you are well advised to book as like us many people seem to enjoy eating there . A short drive away is Poundbury where we have friends so Gould’s Farmhouse is very conveniently situated for meeting up with them . Looking forward to our next stay .
