Description
Our family house dates back to 1790, has been recently renovated but retains its Provençal charm.
It sits in a quiet country lane nestled between the River Durance and La Garrigue (a wood and heathland. Both have lovely walking trails..
The occasional hiker or horse rider is all we sometimes hear in the midst of the peace and calm of the surrounding countryside. And yet we are only a 12 minute walk or 3 minute drive to the village of Merindol with its restaurants, cafes, bakeries, tearoom, wine bar and grocers..
And on the way there’s the roadside stall selling Provençal fruit and veggies……
The house has three bedrooms upstairs plus a cosy living room with sofas, dining table, a chimney, TV and DVD player.
The downstairs has an entrance room, a big vaulted living room, with sofas and a billiard table and a bunk-bedroom, opening onto the terrace.
The summer kitchen opens onto a shady terrace with a BBQ and two areas for eating….under the mulberry tree or a large parasol. The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, fridge /freezer, microwave/oven, toaster, kettle, mixer, etc.
This terrace leads to the swimming pool - 9.50cm x 4.50cm with a depth of 1.50cm (steps at one end) and to the pretty garden with trees, grass and plants. Depending on the time of year you could find cherries, apricots, olives, figs, walnuts and pomegranates.
There are also swings, a football goal, and kid’s playhouse.
The pool area has loungers with shade given from a large parasol and olive trees. Around the garden with its view onto Le Petit Luberon is plenty of seating as well as an ‘apero’ table where you can sip chilled rosé while watching a perfect sunset.
If you feel the need to get away, there are many hilltop Luberon villages with wine tasting, markets and music just a short drive away and in a hour you can be in busy and intersting Marseille, Avignon and Aix en Provence. Also the Camargue, and Sts Marie’s de la Mer’s sandy beaches.
