FANTASTIQUE! 30 September, 2023 Hi Maria, What a lovely time we have had at Les Alouettes. The house is so lovely and welcoming, we shall ever treasure (in no particular order): 1. Days on the terrace playing backgammon, reading, early evening glasses of rosé 2. Exploring the countryside – so many marvellous walks 3. Evenings in Malaucene – menu du jour and much conversation; and (last but by no means least) 4. Reading Bill Larkworthy’s memoirs and enjoying Maria’s company. We took a bit of a punt in choosing Les Alouettes and Malaucene for our 18-day holiday as we were not familiar with either. We were fantastically lucky with both. The house was beautifully equipped and a real home, full of character (a product of the fact that the Irish owner, Maria, had lived there until recently). It had all we needed. We particularly loved the coolness of the house (the weather was hot!), the beautifully shady terrace where we could read and eat comfortably and, for the sun lovers, the sunny terrace, garden and pool. Maria now lives next door and was on hand to explain anything about the house and the neighbourhood when we needed help. But she made it clear that she would only do that if asked. She respected our privacy completely - a lovely lady. The house was delightfully quiet – despite the fact it was close to the town. We were able to stroll into the centre in 5 minutes – to pick up baguettes and croissants in the morning, eat out at one of several restaurants in the evening (E22 was very typical for a good 3 course plat du jour in the evening) or watch the boules in festival week. The area is packed with beautiful historic buildings, lovely local villages and towns and wonderfully, hilly green countryside. We recommend Maria, Les Alouettes and Malaucene without hesitation!

23 August, 2023 Dear Maria, Thank you so much for letting us share your little slice of Heaven. We have loved every minute. The house is very homely and very well equipped. It is in a very good location to explore this part of Provence and even better if your husband is cycling mad like mine! 4 August 2023 Dear Maria, We came to your house and we immediately felt at home! It really is a lovely quiet place with great atmosphere, exactly what one needs to recuperate. Your kind welcome and your willingness to help was heartfelt! We had a very good time in the Provence with extensive walks and wonderful wines. Your garden and the terrace were beautiful and the smell of the roses and the cypresses near the swimming pool beguiling! Thank you so much for everything! Die schöne Zeit in der Provence haben wir durch ausgedehnte Wanderungen + köstlichen Wein sehr genossen.
