Description

In a wonderfully secluded location, this historic 17 Century thatched cottage is perfect for any couple's break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life As you step through the low front doorway and enter this beautiful cottage you will find a living/dining area with a high wooden beamed ceiling and huge inglenook fireplace containing a wood burning stove which supplements the central heating. There is a sofa and chair in front of the fireplace which invite you to spend warm cosy nights in front of the TV. The gallery-style kitchen and utility area are very well-equipped with exposed stone features adding even more character. The king-size bedroom is spacious and bright under the vaulted ceiling with plenty of natural light and views towards the delightful garden and scenery beyond. The Old Cottage comes with well-kept front and rear lawns together with a versatile rear gravelled area with a table and chairs overlooking the surrounding countryside towards the Clee Hills which is a perfect spot to enjoy the morning sunrise or evening sunset. Your dog will love the Old Cottage as they can wander perfectly safely round the fully enclosed rear garden and enjoy lots of varied walks in the area. Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire Hills are close with Shrewsbury, historic Ironbridge and Church Stretton a short drive. After a few days at the Old Cottage you will leave relaxed and fully refreshed.

Unbelievably comfortable

By Ian & Wendy on 31-Oct-2024

We think you have to stay at this historic cottage to appreciate just how comfortable it is! This is our second visit and, though the weather has been overcast and misty, the autumn colours have brightened up our stay and it has been so restful and warm. Thank you again to Denise and Malcolm for tasty treats on our arrival… the time has sped by and we are refreshed.

An old cottage with comfortable modern facilities

By Ian & Wendy Davies on 29-Jun-2024

Such a joy to step into the Old Cottage in Burley, near Ludlow. A jug of garden flowers on the coffee table lit up the spacious sitting room and the kitchen was full of tasty delights to set us up for the weekend. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was always warm with underfloor heating and fluffy towels. We felt the owners, Denise and Malcolm, went out of their way to give us a friendly welcome and yet respected our need for rest and refreshment.

Delightful

A beautiful, homely and excellently equipped detached cottage. Fabulous views and great walking, from the doorstep.

We had a long weekend at the cottage to avoid fireworks at home.We couldn't have picked anything better. The cottage had everything we needed.

We loved everything about the cottage. The remote setting was brilliant for a lovely quiet break. The views and surroundings were beautiful and the cottage was some warm and comfortable. The log fire provided lovely cosy evenings and the cottage has everything you could possibly need.Denise and Malcolm were excellent hosts and made us feel really welcome as did Kooki and Duggi. We will definitely be looking to visit again .

A week at the Old Cottage

By Andrew & Nicola Callender on 12-Sep-2023

This cottage is really delightful in every way. It has been very thoughtfully set up and appointed to make one’s stay all the more pleasurable, comfortable and relaxing. The log fire in the evening proved an added bonus.

A wonderful place to stay

A wonderful cottage and location and the owners made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond to help us when our car broke down. Can't recommend this cottage or the owners enough.
