Description

Near Ludlow, Shropshire.

The Cowshed is a beautiful and idyllic holiday cottage. It is set within eleven acres of private pasture land, some of which is designated as a Shropshire wildlife site. Nestling on the west side of Clee Hill, The Cowshed is an ideal base from which to explore Shropshire, Herefordshire and the Welsh Marches. The area offers a wealth of interesting history, stunning countryside and sporting facilities.

You can join public footpaths, including the Shropshire Way, just metres from The Cowshed. If you enjoy eating out, you'll be spoilt for choice irrespective of whether you prefer relaxing in a cosy pub or café or dining in an excellent restaurant. Alternatively, you may prefer just to sit in the sun room or on the patio and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside, look at the wonderful view, and watch and listen to the birds.

Excellent

Lovely location which was very peaceful. The Cowshed was absolutely spotless and a lot of care had gone into it's design, and particularly in the amount of kitchen equipment. We wanted for nothing! Outstanding rating

Comfortable cottage

By Richard and Chris on 24-Oct-2020

The Cowshed is a very comfortable homely cottage which is very well equipped for your every need. We particularly enjoyed the quiet location with amazing views towards Ludlow. The weather was rainy during our stay so we took full advantage of the warm, cosy sunroom and a good book. Thank you Brian and Gill, we enjoyed meeting you and staying in your delighful cottage. Wehope to visit again.

Thoroughly recommend Shropshire and the Cowshed

By Gill Knibbs on 30-Nov-2018

We have had several visits to the Cow Shed and each time we're made very welcome by Brian and Gill. The views are stunning and the cottage beautifully equipped and comfortable. There is plenty to see and do in the area and we would thoroughly recommend Shropshire and the Cow Shed for a get away from it all holiday.

I couldn’t want for anything at the Cowshed.

The little house is perfect for a retreat. Very clean, very tidy with every bit of equipment you might need in abundance. It was lovely and warm on the winter nights I stayed and the bed very comfortable. Without any hesitation I would say this cottage is one of the best equipped, not to say, best appointed cottages I have ever stayed in. The views of South Shropshire and the Teme valley are spectacular. I spent the mornings happily contemplating the view from the garden room which, in Summer, must be even more beautiful to spend time in; there were walks a plenty in the beautiful landscape all around and at night, in total darkness, only the the sound of owls broke the silence, an altogether welcome intrusion! Gill and Brian were tremendously welcoming, relaxed and unobtrusive and they have clearly worked very hard to make the Cowshed such a lovely place to be.

Just Lovely

By Jude E on 25-Nov-2016

We found the Cowshed at the last minute and I am so glad we did. We have stayed in many cottages and this must be the best. It was so comfortable, clean and of a very high standard. It had everything you could possible need for a holiday in it and I just didn't want to go home. The views are wonderful over towards Ludlow and I can think of nothing better than sitting reading a book in the sun room over looking the countryside. We also saw a weasel, pheasant, robin and an owl in our short stay. The local area is lovely for walking and Ludlow for exploring too. You can walk to the nearest pub but it is about a 30 min walk. Brian even offered to pick us up which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated as I have a bad foot. We only went once as we preferred to stay in for the evenings and make the most of the lovely Cowshed while we were there, reading, drinking wine, chatting and playing Scrabble. Brian and Gill were lovely hosts, and it was so nice to meet them and stop for a chat and a glass of wine. They really have thought of everything and the Cowshed is a top class holiday home. The wine, cow shaped shortbreads, milk and fruit were very welcome too. I would highly recommend a holiday here to anybody and know that I'll be going back.

If Carlsberg did holiday cottages

We hit the jackpot finding The Cowshed online. We second all the positive comments of previous guests. The quality of the build and the fixtures and fittings make it one of the best accommodations we have come across in many years of staying in holiday cottages.
