Description
This beautifully renovated 19th Century cottage is located in a quiet residential and conservation area only 120 metres from the harbour of West Looe. Modern self-catering facilities throughout include a lovely open plan living room and superb fitted kitchen/dining area, double bedroom & twin bedded rooms adjacent to the first floor family bathroom, and an impressive master bedroom equipped with en-suite double shower room. Additionally a small utility room offers a washer/dryer. With level access by foot, the cottage it's suitable for all ages. Opposite an amazing village store, they will facilitate your arrival & departures (after 3pm and by 10am respectively). Changeover day is Sunday which is unusual for Looe but you will avoid the masses of traffic generated by Saturday changeovers all over the South West. Keys are collected and returned to the shop. In addition there is a key safe at the rear of the property. We provide bedding and tea towels (but not beach/bath towels). The safe, sandy beach is just 500 metres and is popular with bathers and boarders. The old town of Looe is a maze of tiny lanes and quaint cottages. There is a nice assortment of shops to suit all tastes as well as many good restaurants (Carvery, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Pubs) Suitable for romantic short breaks + family holidays alike, Looe's oldest pub and best deli are just a couple of facilities close at hand. We are very proud of Dreamporth and the quality of accommodation we offer our guests so our cottage is updated from top to bottom annually. We have a great WIFI signal for gamers and WFH plus a smart TV. It is our own 'second home' which we love to share. Locality: Polperro, Seaton, Millendreath are all within walking distance for the energetic or can be reached easily by car or on one of the regular boat trips from Looe harbour. The Cornish Coast path passes right through Looe & offers some amazing coastal views & wonderful walks (west to Fowey and east to Rame Head). Boat trips also run to Looe Island where seal watching is a favourite pass-time. Glass bottomed boats also offer a window into the rich local aquatic environment. There is a regular bus route from Looe via Polperro to Polruan. Polruan is a charming village across the river from Fowey and a ferry will take you across the Fowey estuary to visit this lovely harbour town. The fantastic Eden project along with the Lost Gardens of Helligan are less than an hour away. Rugged Dartmoor is a 45 minute drive & there are ample golf clubs in the area (St Mellion, Looe Down, Saltash, Portwrinkle, and Doublebois). Plymouth is a 30 minute drive away and offers the National Marine Aquarium, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Dome & great shopping plus all the night life you would expect from a big city. Families: Looe Monkey Sanctuary is a great favourite with children housing many rescued woolly monkeys in a wonderful wooded environment. 30 minutes by car is Kidz World - a fantastic indoor adventure zone for children from toddlers up because it rains in Cornwall too! There is an great donkey sanctuary with indoor / outdoor play at Gunnislake - a 25 minute drive away. There is an amusement arcades in Looe that offers traditional children’s rides & slots for that traditional British seaside holiday feel if that is your preference. Crab fishing is a brilliant pass-time for kids & parents alike. In the summer half an hour can easily fill a bucket with crabs & the quay is often lined with very competitive parents! Many of the restaurants in Looe offer an early sitting (5:30 to 6:00pm) which enables families with younger children to dine out without the need for a babysitter. Sports: Fishermen amongst you will not be disappointed. Charters leave Looe (weather permitting) & account for shark in the summer, pollock, conger & bass. This area of coast is rich with reefs & the shore fishing for bass especially on surface lures can be spectacular. For families, regular mackerel fishing trips leave the quay with all tackle provided. Looe has a diving school (Looe Divers) offering guided dives on local reefs & wrecks popular because of the fantastic water clarity & warmth. Surfing & canoeing are very popular in & around Looe and there is a great surf beach at Portwrinkle (30 minutes by car). The new Old Sardine Factory is a great activity centre with a climbing wall and water sports as well as a great restaurant.Changeover day for guests is on Sunday!
