Beach Pads consist of three beach front holiday homes situated adjacent to each other and have no other neighbours. They offer a perfect haven for those looking to escape the hectic pace of everyday life. A home from home where you can wake up in a super-king size bed and look straight out onto St. Ives Bay and Godrevy lighthouse.
Watch the ebb and flow of the tide, whilst waking or enjoying your morning tea or coffee. Many Guests report how mesmerising the view is and that it is hard to peel themselves away from the ever changing views especially whilst reclined under comfy crisp cotton sheets. Guests say it's a very enjoyable “guilty” pleasure! We say that’s the purpose please don’t feel guilty when relaxation is the aim.
Step out of the door and walk on the dunes or beach comb on St. Ives Bay. A pastime that is easy to let the mind and body relax.If you prefer, there is a spacious private lawned garden with an enclosed heated swimming pool and a summerhouse where you can be outside but not feel the elements whilst watching the sunset over the bay.
Alternatively, inside there are TVs with the many Movie and TV Show Apps to watch your favourite films and shows via the free unlimited super fast broadband/wifi connection.
Guests are able to park for free at the Church or we can assist in organising parking on the nearby quay 200-250m along the beach from the house. There is no vehicle parking at the property as it is located on the beach and so guests should be able to walk 200m to get in and out of the property. Over the years, “The Beach Pads” have worked very well for larger family and friends group get-togethers, being booked for significant birthdays, even a successful 90th in 2023! A great venue for Golden Wedding Anniversary’s, as well as an annual multi-generational family holidays. These fab three houses provide the ideal setting for year-round getaways and reunions with internationally based friends and relatives. It is also a popular destination for wedding celebrations, photo shoots and filming.
As they say location, location, location and this is undeniably one that delivers in spades! Guests frequently reporting back that these special reunions and occasions have created the cherished family memories that will last a lifetime. Beach Pads provide the ideal retreat for all members of the family. Children revert back to enjoying the physical pursuits of having acres of sand and sea on their doorstep should they need a change of scenery from a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool. Parents can then unwind as we all know that when the kids are happy life is easy! Grandparents have often said it's so relaxing just sitting back and watching their loved ones at rest and play when not being mesmerised by the ever changing views.
Naturally, all three Beach Pads have stunning vistas as well as excellent amenities that include two private hot tubs, an indoor heated pool, covered outdoor entertainment area with fire pit and Egg BBQ to cook the fresh local shellfish and enjoy crisp white wine. Truly an amazing spot for the entire party to congregate in one location providing the rare opportunity to spend some alone time away from the crowds, whilst over looking the ever changing sea vista.
Every home has open-plan living areas. The Ferry House and Ferryman’s Rest both have conservatories. Ferryman’s Rest has a spacious dining and living space with a huge driftwood inspired table overlooking the bay. A sit around table where you can enjoy long, leisurely dinners and while away many an hour chatting and catching up with family and friends. If you don't wish to stay sat at the table sit back and relax on a large very comfy sofa with a massive flat screen TV for group film watching or gaming.
For a great finishing touch why not light up the wood stove to warm you up after an evening beach stroll. Alternatively, a favourite with the guests is being able to drink some bubbles whilst enjoying being in bubbles and being mesmerised by the ever changing views or watching the stars come out at night with the soothing sound of the sea in the background.
The open plan living and dining areas are connected to fully furnished galley kitchens with doors that open onto the garden or terraces. Guests have repeatedly commented that they are well stocked "Cook's Kitchens".
If you wish to be peaceful and away from the living room action, its possible to enjoy the stunning views from the conservatory/ sun room where there is another dining table that also overlooks the bay is also accessible from this area. This is often used by our larger groups for a Younger Generation or “kid’s” tables.
If you can take your eyes off the breathtaking views of the sea or resist going outside for a private moonlit beach walk, there are plenty of options for unwinding and cuddling up either to watch a movie or read a good book. You will only be disturbed by the sound of the waves.
Throughout the day, there is much for everyone to enjoy. Literally, sandy beaches are right outside your door, alternatively, few meters away is a fantastic links golf course. If not, those who prefer the water can go paddle boarding, kayaking or kitesurfing. Hayle is a fantastic place to attempt kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing if you're interested in water activities.
If taking it easy is more your style it is possible to go fishing right outside your front door. Or, if birdwatching is a hobby the location is renowned for its twitching potential as it is the most southerly RSPB Reserve. Come spot a Golden Plover, Wigeon, Godwit, Redshank, Teal, Heron, Cormorant, Gull or Crow to name a few. Nature abounds at the location with guests repeatedly spotting Seals from the comfort of their beds to Glow Worms on an evening stroll.
The village of Lelant is well served with two great local pubs, a wonderful bistro and fabulous bird watching cafe. Enjoy a morning stroll with breathtaking views by using the South West Coastal Footpath.
Porth Kidney Beach welcomes dogs year-round and as many families are not complete without their four legged friend Beach Pad's is a wonderful place to start the day with your pet. The Hounds report back that the beach is "paw-fect".
The Beach Pads are based directly on the St Michael’s Way Pilgrimage Route and are part of the Camino so you can get your first Camino stamp just by walking to Beach Pads!
If you feel like a walk further afield it is possible to walk via the beach into Carbis Bay and enjoy the location where world leaders congregated for the G7 in 2020 and enjoyed a Cornish Beach BBQ.The location was chosen to impress President's and Prime Minister's as it is indisputably a "World Class”, something many famous artists became aware of hundreds of years ago when the likes of Whistler was first attracted to the special St. Ives "light".
Beach Pad's has its own artistic history as it was the home and studio of John Miller who forever captured the beauty of the location in his iconic beach and seascapes. Indeed one of the paintings of the location being used for Chris Rea's "King of the Beach" Album Cover. The location has also inspired writers and the famous local author Rosamunde Pilcher who described the walk to the house as her favourite walk: "My favourite walk is at Lelant, down the road past the Church onto the golf course. You see the Bay and the colours, and it's never the same - it's just perfect."
A little further on you can enjoy fantastic cafes, pubs, and restaurants as you stroll down the South West Coastal Route into St. Ives and visit the Tate or the many charming traditional Cornish towns nearby. Easy day outings include the Eden Project, Lands End, Minack Theatre, St. Michael's Mount, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The happy couple can opt to exchange vows informally at any time of day with a local celebrant (or not), after registering at the registry office or attending a service at the stunning Norman Church nearby. Dusk weddings are especially popular at the moment.
As the beach is dog friendly all the year round it means your four legged best friend can join in too! Our guests frequently discover that they have the beach to themselves, even during the hottest part of the summer.
Whilst the location works well for large group events and get togethers, the location and positioning equally offers the opportunity for more private and intimate escapes that are often enjoyed by Guests.

Some since the beginning when the family first opened the doors to The Beach House back in 2008.
