Description

Would you like to stay on the best beach in the UK? If so, look no further than Beachpad's Ferry House based on the magnificent Porthkidney Sands Beach, St Ives Bay. A location that won the coveted title of Best UK Beach by The Times/Sunday Times in 2024. Step out of the door and walk on the dunes or beach comb in St. Ives Bay. It is a perfect haven to escape the hectic pace of everyday life. No matter what age, guests who stay at The Ferry House find it hard to leave and truly love their time holidaying at such a stunning and special spot. This popular beach vacation rental was formerly the historic location of the ancient Lelant to Hayle Ferry.

Ferry House, is a private cosy house with an amazing outside space. For a group of friends or a family of up to eight that want a real beach vacation in a gorgeous area of Cornwall, this would be an excellent choice. There are unavoidable, breathtaking views in every direction because the property is so near to the beach—it’s practically on it.

The living room, dining room and kitchen are all open to one another and have a comfortable seating area where you can relax whilst watching the ever changing sea views or if you prefer a movie on the flat-screen TV while the wood stove crackles or, on hot days, take a nap in the shade. To keep you occupied late into the night, there are also locally inspired reading materials and board games available.

There is both a snug with a TV ideal for the Younger Generation to use for gaming or cartoons. Alternatively, the adjacent conservatory/ sun room has seating and a table football with various children’s games and doubles up as a “den”, allowing the older generation to sit and chat or just to relax and enjoy the view. The sun room/conservatory has the capability of providing a remote working space should the need arise.

Modern and fully furnished, the kitchen area is perfect for preparing large breakfasts to be eaten either at the kitchen island and for enjoying delectable dinners at the dining table on cooler evenings while taking in the stunning view of the bay. Guests have repeatedly commented that it is a well stocked “Cook’s Kitchen”.

However, in the summer, you will want to eat outside in the wonderful private garden over looking the beach, which features two large interlinked covered pergolas with long bench seating, a built-in BBQ, and breathtaking views of the sea! Before dinner, you may enjoy a few luxurious laps in the indoor heated pool or grab a cool beer and have a relaxing dip in the hot tub while someone gets the Egg BBQ ready. Perfect for cooking some fresh local shellfish and sipping some crisp white wine.

A favourite with the guests is being able to drink some bubbles whilst enjoying being in bubbles and being mesmerised by the ever changing views or watching the stars come out at night with the soothing sound of the sea in the background.

As they say location, location, location and this is undeniably one that delivers in spades! Guests frequently reporting back that these special reunions and occasions have created the cherished family memories that will last a lifetime. Beach Pads provide the ideal retreat for all members of the family. Children revert back to enjoying the physical pursuits of having acres of sand and sea on their doorstep should they need a change of scenery from a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool. Parents can then unwind as we all know that when the kids are happy life is easy! Grandparents have often said it’s so relaxing just sitting back and watching their loved ones at rest and play when not being mesmerised by the ever changing views.

You’ll have a choice of four beautiful rooms with a versatile combination of super-kings, bunks, and kings when you’re ready to go to sleep. The rooms are adaptable, tastefully furnished providing you with the opportunity to wake up to breathtaking views. Being directly on the beach, naturally, there are stunning vistas visible from all rooms. The sound of the sea can be heard when you freshen up after a restful night’s sleep or wash away the sand in the shower area. It is such a romantic experience that several guests have popped the question and tied the knot whilst staying. It is hard to find a more perfect romantic setting for a Marriage Proposal. Definitely a place to respond with a “Yes!”

For those with limited mobility, the ground level room is perfect. There is a family bathroom upstairs and a shower room on the ground floor.

Fresh towels, bathrobes and bedlinen are provided. The property is thoroughly cleaned after each guest vacates. For stays of more than one week, all sheets and towels will be changed and the accommodation will be vacuum.

The house has a modern wood burning stove. High chairs and travel cot are available on request. The Ferry House is ideal and very suitable for children.

The pool and hot tub are located on the other side of a gated area just off from the garden. The pool is in an enclosure and the hot tub is is under a wooden roof canopy. Both are private from the beach and exclusive for the use of the Ferry House guests. The pool is heated all year round but the heating system will not work with ambient temperatures of below 6 degrees for extended period of time.

If you can take your eyes off the breathtaking views of the sea or resist going outside for a private moonlit beach walk, there are plenty of options for unwinding and cuddling up either to watch a movie or read a good book. You will only be disturbed by the sound of the waves. Throughout the day, there is much for everyone to enjoy. Literally, sandy beaches are right outside your door, alternatively, few meters away is a fantastic links golf course. If not, those who prefer the water can go paddle boarding, kayaking or kitesurfing. Hayle is a fantastic place to attempt kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing if you’re interested in water activities.

If taking it easy is more your style it is possible to go fishing right outside your front door. Or, if birdwatching is a hobby the location is renowned for its bird watching potential as it is the most southerly RSPB Reserve. Come spot a Golden Plover, Wigeon, Godwit, Redshank, Teal, Heron, Cormorant, Gull or Crow to name a few. Nature abounds at the location with guests repeatedly spotting Seals from the comfort of their beds to Glow Worms on an evening stroll.

The village of Lelant is well served with two great local pubs, a wonderful bistro and fabulous bird watching cafe. Enjoy a morning stroll with breathtaking views by using the South West Coastal Footpath. Porthkidney Beach welcomes dogs year-round and as many families are not complete without their four legged friend The Beach House is a wonderful place to start the day with your pet. The Hounds report back that the beach is “paw-fect”.

The Beach House is based directly on the St Michael’s Way Pilgrimage Route and are part of the Camino so you can get your first Camino stamp just by walking to The Beach House! If you feel like a walk further afield it is possible to walk via the beach into Carbis Bay and enjoy the location where world leaders congregated for the G7 in 2020 and enjoyed a Cornish Beach BBQ. The location was chosen to impress President’s and Prime Minister’s as it is indisputably a “World Class”, something many famous artists became aware of hundreds of years ago when the likes of Whistler was first attracted to the special St. Ives “light”. The location has also inspired writers and the famous local author Rosamunde Pilcher who described the walk to the house as her favourite walk: “My favourite walk is at Lelant, down the road past the Church onto the golf course. You see the Bay and the colours, and it’s never the same – it’s just perfect.”

Begin your day with a cup of coffee in bed or outside and take in the constantly shifting hues over the famous Godrevy Lighthouse. Even in the middle of summer, Lelant village is peaceful and calm. It features two pubs and a pleasant cafe where you can get a bite to eat and a local pint. St. Ives is close by and has a lovely harbour of its own if you’re willing to go a little farther along the South West Coastal Route. In addition, you may view some beautiful artwork at the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth Museum, which was once the residence of the well-known sculptor. Easy day outings include the Eden Project, Lands End, Minack Theatre, St. Michael’s Mount, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

After a day sightseeing return to your sanctuary, light the fire pit, and toast some marshmallows after a hard day in the sun.

We at Beachpads know we have the keys to a magical destination. We want to share that with our guests so that they too can tap into the peace and calm that our guests repeatedly enjoy having stayed at Ferry House. The remarkable experience of staying at the location provides many of our guests with precious memories, that feel better, are worth more and last longer than many life’s more fleeting likes.

Perfect for Couples or families looking for sunlight, the sea, and clean Cornish air in a breathtaking location near the water’s edge this seaside property is perfect. Guests often stay and organise with friends to stay in the sister Beachpads properties of Ferry House and Ferryman's Rest that allow for larger group get-togethers.

So if you want to experience a spot where you can allow the live sound of the sea to soothe you whilst drifting off into a restful night’s sleep, and then wake up in a super-king bed and gaze directly upon the Godrevy lighthouse and St. Ives Bay with only the distraction of a passing Gig or a Local Lobster Fisherman look no further and get in touch!

We had a wonderful time at Lelant. The location of Ferry House wouldn’t be better and the kids had a wonderful time on the beach and in the pristine waters! The property was clean and well maintained and it was magical waking up to the views. I don’t think I have seen prettier waters in the UK! The owner is very responsive, considerate and patiently answered all my questions regarding access, parking, grocery delivery etc etc. We will certainly come back and have recommended the property and also neighbouring properties to our friends!

Top Class

The house and its location and views are amazing, I showed some friends pictures of it and they thought it was in the Caribbean everything is top class and Nicola the host is on hand if anything is a problem which it wasn't but nice to have that assurance Thanks Nicola for an unforgettable holiday

Excellent

This property was everything we had hoped it would be for our family summer holiday. Even on days when the weather isn’t so good, this house has everything you need to keep you occupied during your stay. It is all about the location and just looking at the ever changing views from the house was enough for us. The house was well-equipped, has comfortable beds, a fantastic hot tub and is in a great location for easily getting to St.Ives although parking is a nightmare so advisable to get a train or bus there. Our 2 dogs loved being walked on the beach twice a day which doesn’t get too busy and is spacious enough to be able to avoid other people should you wish to. I would totally recommend this property to others and I would love to return as soon as possible.
