Description

Would you like to stay on the best beach in the UK? If so, The Beach House is perfect for you. Head down your private steps from the terrace and walk straight onto the sand. The Beach House is based on the magnificent Porthkidney Sands Beach, St Ives Bay. A location that won the coveted title of Best UK Beach by The Times/Sunday Times in 2024. Step out of the door and walk on the dunes or beach comb in St. Ives Bay. It is a perfect haven to escape the hectic pace of everyday life.

No matter what age, guests who stay at The Beach House love their time being based in such a stunning and special spot. This popular Beach House vacation rental was formerly the painting studio of John Miller the famous St Ives Bay Beachscape painter. John Miller captured the beauty of the location in his iconic paintings that were created right there in The Beach House. Indeed one of the paintings of location was used for Chris Rea’s “King of the Beach” Album Cover.

This home away from home boasts a serene interior design, contemporary conveniences and naturally, provides stunning vistas visible from all rooms.

The ground floor is open plan, with a pleasant living area with a lovely large dining table at one end of the room and a well stocked galley kitchen area to the other. One of the two sofas can be made into a double bed, and the space is tidy, light, and also cosy and inviting. You can prepare a dinner to be eaten at the dining table or sit outside on the lovely terrace and take in the breathtaking view while sipping a drink. It’s a great place to unwind after a day at the beach and perfect for those who might just wish to stroll along the sand under the moon and stars at night to gaze at the moonlit water and feel the sand between their toes!

Two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with twin single beds are located upstairs. Stunning bay views from the windows, both rooms are well furnished with good storage space.
Experience a cosy sleep and wake up to the magnificent view that inspired John Miller to paint his iconic seascapes in the very same spot. The sound of the sea can be heard when you freshen up after a restful night’s sleep or wash away the sand in the shower area.

Fresh towels, bathrobes and bedlinen are provided. The property is thoroughly cleaned after each guest vacates. For stays of more than one week, all sheets and towels will be changed and the accommodation will have a vacuum.

High chairs and travel cot are available on request. The Beach House is suitable for children.

It is such a romantic experience that several guests have popped the question and tied the knot whilst staying. It is hard to find a more perfect romantic setting for a Marriage Proposal. Definitely a place to respond with a “Yes!”

If you can take your eyes off the breathtaking views of the sea or resist going outside for a private moonlit beach walk, there are plenty of options for unwinding and cuddling up either to watch a movie or read a good book. You will only be disturbed by the sound of the waves.

Throughout the day, there is much for everyone to enjoy. Literally, sandy beaches are right outside your door, alternatively, few meters away is a fantastic links golf course. If not, those who prefer the water can go paddle boarding, kayaking or kitesurfing. Hayle is a fantastic place to attempt kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing if you’re interested in water activities.

If taking it easy is more your style it is possible to go fishing right outside your front door. Or, if birdwatching is a hobby the location is renowned for its twitching potential as it is the most southerly RSPB Reserve. Come spot a Golden Plover, Wigeon, Godwit, Redshank, Teal, Heron, Cormorant, Gull or Crow to name a few. Nature abounds at the location with guests repeatedly spotting Seals from the comfort of their beds to Glow Worms on an evening stroll.

The village of Lelant is well served with two great local pubs, a wonderful bistro and fabulous bird watching cafe. Enjoy a morning stroll with breathtaking views by using the South West Coastal Footpath. Porthkidney Beach welcomes dogs year-round and as many families are not complete without their four legged friend The Beach House is a wonderful place to start the day with your pet. The Hounds report back that the beach is “paw-fect”.

The Beach House is based directly on the St Michael’s Way Pilgrimage Route and are part of the Camino so you can get your first Camino stamp just by walking to The Beach House! If you feel like a walk further afield it is possible to walk via the beach into Carbis Bay and enjoy the location where world leaders congregated for the G7 in 2020 and enjoyed a Cornish Beach BBQ. The location was chosen to impress President’s and Prime Minister’s as it is indisputably a “World Class”, something many famous artists became aware of hundreds of years ago when the likes of Whistler was first attracted to the special St. Ives “light”.

The location has also inspired writers and the famous local author Rosamunde Pilcher who described the walk to the house as her favourite walk: “My favourite walk is at Lelant, down the road past the Church onto the golf course. You see the Bay and the colours, and it’s never the same – it’s just perfect.”

Begin your day with a cup of coffee in bed or outside and take in the constantly shifting hues over the famous Godrevy Lighthouse. Even in the middle of summer, Lelant village is peaceful and calm. It features two pubs and a pleasant cafe where you can get a bite to eat and a local pint. St. Ives is close by and has a lovely harbour of its own if you’re willing to go a little farther along the South West Coastal Route. In addition, you may view some beautiful artwork at the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth Museum, which was once the residence of the well-known sculptor.

Easy day outings include the Eden Project, Lands End, Minack Theatre, St. Michael’s Mount, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

We know we have the keys to a magical destination. We want to share that with our guests so that they too can tap into the peace and calm that our guests repeatedly enjoy having stayed at Ferryman’s Rest. The remarkable experience of staying at the location provides many of our guests with precious memories, that feel better, are worth more and last longer than many life’s more fleeting likes.

Perfect for Couples or families looking for sunlight, the sea, and clean Cornish air in a breathtaking location near the water’s edge this seaside property is perfect.
Guests often stay and organise with friends to stay in the sister Beachpads properties of Ferry House and Ferryman's Rest that allow for larger group get-togethers.

Amazing stay at a stunning location

By Matt S on 22-Jun-2024

The location of the Beach House is incredible. There's something special about the walk through the dunes to this magical beachfront hideaway. Each step takes you closer to holiday-mode. The house is tucked away through a wrought iron gate and as you walk along the beautiful garden path, the sense of being 'away from it all' is tangible. The house itself is simple enough to make for the kind of holiday living that we appreciate as a family, whilst having everything we needed. And the view...we've stayed in some nice places over the years, but the view from this place is unsurpassed in our experience. To lie in bed and watch the sea and listen to the waves was incredible. Our final day at the property was incredibly windy, but this just made for an even more interesting view, as kite-surfers took to the waves and entertained us with their antics. That epitomised the location really - despite being remote and peaceful, we never felt isolated. People walked their dogs on the beach, paddle boarders drifted by, fishing boats chugged out to sea at dawn, and surfers and pilot gigs meant there was always something to watch. Communication with Nicola was exemplary. We broke down en route, arriving 24 hours late, and she gifted us an extra night! And then there was the birthday cake and card for my wife, the Father's Day message for me and the encouraging words for our daughter's gig at a nearby hotel. So thoughtful and kind. What could have made it better...? Another week or two!

Slice of Paradise

By Steven G on 08-Jun-2023

We had a wonderful stay! A slice of Paradise. Such an idyllic setting with inspiring views from this lovely beach house where we enjoyed a glass of wine on our terrace, watching the kite surfers and little fishing boats go by. The garden was so enchanting, it was a joy admire all the pretty flowers on our way as we meandered down to the beach below. It's rare to find a place which resonates a certain nostalgia, those perfect days spent by the sea. We can see why the artist John Millar was inspired here at his art studio in times gone by. Thank you so much for this and all the homely touches and gorgeous Cornish wine, scones, amazing locally produced chocolate cake and all the other lovely things just added a special touch. We hope to return some day.
