Description
Built in 1850, the Chateau offers accommodation for up to 18 people plus 2 cots. The reception rooms are elegant and spacious, and spill out to the outside terraces where you have views of the stunning south-facing aspect, river frontage and garden with mature trees. The kitchen is spacious and very well equipped with marble worktops and a large Lacanche range oven. There is a more formal living room as well as a cosy snug. The Dining Hall is fantastic with large doors opening from the front facade but also onto the back garden with views of the river. Six of the seven bedrooms in the Chateau are on the first floor whilst the seventh is on the ground floor and ideal for ease of access. The Chateau has a separate self-contained cottage with an additional 2 bedrooms that can be hired in addition for a supplement. The cottage is never let separately. The cottage provides a further two bedrooms and is ideal for a nanny/aupair or anyone wanting a little bit more independence.
There is also the Chai which provides a fun games room and bar area for smaller groups but is also perfect for events and dining for larger groups as well as an ideal place for theme based holidays such as yoga, pilates, painting etc. There is a Pool snooker table.
The Chateau Bedrooms are all double bedrooms and are beautifully furnished with antique furniture and French beds, each having its own personality. The en-suites are a mixture of showers and roll top baths with showers over -some separate and some in the bedrooms themselves.
Bedroom 1 is on the Ground floor and is a family room with double bed and two twin beds. It has a large shower-room next door.
Bedroom 2 is a double bedroom and has an ensuite with a roll top bath (with shower over) in the bedroom and then a separate WC in the tower itself.
Bedroom 3 is a small double with two twin beds so ideal for children. It has an ensuite with a roll top bath (with shower over) in the bedroom and then a separate WC in the tower itself.
Bedroom 4 is a double bedroom and has an ensuite with a roll top bath (with shower over) in the bedroom and then a separate WC in the tower itself
Bedroom 5 is a double bedroom and has an ensuite with a roll top bath (with shower over) in the bedroom and then a separate WC in the tower itself
Bedroom 6 is a double bedroom and has an ensuite with a roll top bath (with shower over) in the bedroom and then a separate WC in the tower itself
Bedroom 7 is on the second floor and is a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room and a separate WC.
Outdoor Living
Set in over 6 acres of park, the Chateau is surrounded by mature trees providing complete privacy. The terraces and 10m x 6m heated pool overlook the River Lot and there is some 200 metres of river frontage, which includes a small jetty with lockable gates. Relatively slow flowing, it is perfect for rowing, paddle-boarding, kayaking and fishing. A fishing boat and canoe are provided for guest use. The Swimming Pool has both fencing and alarm for security. The covered terrace houses a summer kitchen with bar and dining area. The summer kitchen has fridge/freezer and dishwasher as well as large paella pan and griddle. The large dining table seats all guests comfortably. There is also large gas BBQ. In addition there is a table tennis table and selection of bicycles for use. It really is the perfect location.

Local Area
The pretty village of Fongrave is a short walk from the Chateau. There is the all important village shop for your fresh bread and croissant in the morning as well as a post office and church. Attached to the shop is a bar/ restaurant serving delicious traditional French food. There is also a farm shop just opposite the Chateau. Each Thursday evening during the summer the village comes alive for the farmers market. The Chateau is close to Castelmoron where the regular Wednesday market is busy throughout the year. The larger town of Villeneuve sur Lot is also easily accessible as is the Dordogne river-side town of Bergerac which is just 45 minutes drive to the north, with its beautiful old town, quay and many restaurants, shops and activities.
There is an 18 hole golf course within a 25 minute drive of the Chateau as well as canoe trips, paddle board, tennis and mini-golf.
Getting Here
The Chateau is ideally positioned between 3 International Airports making it an easy final destination.The Dordogne river-side town of Bergerac with its International Airport is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Ryanair flies here from London Stansted, Liverpool, East Midlands and Bristol. British Airways also flies here from London City and Southampton. Jet2 flies from Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds & Bradford. Transvania flies to Rotterdam. The vibrant city of Bordeaux is 1hr 30 minutes away, with a larger International Airport servicing even more UK and Worldwide destinations. In addition, Toulouse Airport is approximately 1hr 30 mins drive to the south - again a large International Airport.
