Les Chouettes is an early 16th century stone cottage in typically Breton style. It is fully tiled throughout the ground floor and has pine floors upstairs which are both child friendly. The ground floor of this cottage is a spacious open plan area with exposed beams and a wood burner set into a huge original granite fireplace, 2 comfortable sofas, English satellite TV with DVD and CD music player, large round oak dining table and chairs, and newly fitted and well equipped kitchen area with built under electric oven, gas hob, cooker hood, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is a wide selection of English books, DVD's and board games to suit all ages.
There is a lovely private garden and patio area with large table, chairs, sunshade, barbecue and swings for this Gite. There is a secure gate which opens into the gardens surrounding the heated swimming pool and terrace area.
Inside, open pine stairs lead to the first floor:
Bedroom 1 with a king size bed and en-suite shower room with electric heater, Bedroom 2 with a double bed, Bedroom 3 with 2 sets of sturdy pine bunk beds, and a family shower room with electric heater. The Gite is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels. Electric radiators are available to heat the bedrooms and for winter lets a large basket of logs for the wood burner.
At Les Hirondelles we offer you rural Brittany at its most enchanting: an idyllic retreat, where deer and wild boar roam the forests and fields and all sorts of birds nest in our garden, including the swallows which give Les Hirondelles its name, barn owls (Chouettes) and nightingales (Rossignols). The skies here are clearer and blue – and at night the dark skies with their wonderful stars will help you make holiday memories to treasure
We believe that happy children make happy parents so we aim to be family friendly, and have a large range of baby equipment available at no extra cost, just let us know what you need in advance and it will be placed in your gite for your arrival. Our court yard play barn has a wide range of toys, books, games and puzzles suitable for all ages and we offer a guest larder with homemade cakes and preserves as well as store cupboard essentials and a daily bread/croissant delivery daily fresh to your door.
Our beautifully restored 16th century Breton Farmhouse complex is in a court yard setting surrounded by lovely gardens including our large heated pool and children’s play barn. We are situated in the rural heart of Brittany in the historic hamlet of Rosquelfen very close to the wonderful Lac de Guerledan with it's lakeside beaches and watersports. We are situated in one of the prettiest parts of Brittany, within easy driving distance of the beautiful Pink Granite Coast to the north, or the Gulf of Morbihan to the south. Our nearest village of Gouarec and the Nantes-Brest canal, shops, restaurants and bike hire are only a couple minutes drive away.
Our pool is about 36 feet by 15 feet by 4 feet deep. It has wide shallow Roman steps leading down into the main swimming area. These steps are ideal for toddlers and small children to paddle and play in the warm water. We are kind to the environment by heating the pool using an air source heat pump and we use a salt chlorination system which makes the water so much kinder to eyes and skin making it ideal for little ones. It is surrounded by a lovely sheltered garden, surrounded by lawns, shrubs and trees for your privacy. There are sun loungers, chairs, tables and parasols set around the pool. The pool house has toys and inflatables including baby swim seats to keep the children entertained. The pool is open and heated from early May to late September.
