La Tuiliere is my ideal ‘home away from home’. In fact, when we arrive each year I feel as though I am at home! This lovely property and home offers everything I find important in a vacation home. When the weather is warm, the beautiful heated pool is perfect. When the weather is cool, we build a fire each evening in the fabulous living room fireplace. Views of the river abound from all of the bedrooms and the natural light streaming through many windows creates an unbeatable ambiance. The kitchen is large and well-appointed, making cooking and eating there such a pleasure. The terrace off the main bedroom overlooking the river is great morning, noon or night. Do I love La Tuiiliere? Yes, I do! Will I continue retuning? Yes, I will! Post Script: The owners of La Tuiliere are lovely people who strive to ensure pleasant stays for their guests. We have stayed in the Valley of the Dordogne since 2013 where we found this unbelievable property four years ago. We have stayed there every year since. The Perigordian style house is simply magnificent with its own private heated swimming pool and a main bedroom suite and terrace facing the Dordogne River. We love to have our morning coffee on the terrace and watch the waterfowl frolic in the river as the sun rises. There are two other bedrooms on the second floor, one with a beautifully appointed ensuite bathroom. There is a huge living room with fireplace and adjoining office/TV room. The kitchen includes a dining table and is fully equipped. A second terrace off the kitchen provides al fresco dining with an automatic awning. This gated property of approximately five acres includes mature fruit trees and a creek running along it. The town of Lalinde is five minutes away with a full array of shops including two bakeries, a butcher, supermarket, and a wide array of restaurants. An open-air market takes place every Thursday. Nearby, within easy driving distance, one can find a myriad of small beautiful French villages with restaurants including the starred Le Vieux Logis in Trémolat where we celebrate birthdays. A pretty walking / bicycle path runs along the Dordogne River from the house all the way to Bergerac. I personally know of no other property in the Dordogne River Valley that compares to this estate. Stunning with French Charm A local couple checked us into the house. They were very helpful with the local knowledge of restaurants and where to go. We stayed for a week in September and were completely overwhelmed with the charm of the house and its stunning views of the river. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large kitchen table, a door that lets you have direct access onto the patio with BBQ, table and chairs. The lounge is very comfortable and well furnished to a modern standard. It’s spacious and overlooks the Dordogne River, just yards away. It still maintains its character with a large original fireplace! We were very relaxed sitting in the lounge in the cool September evenings but equally so outside during the day. The garden is large and well maintained with many fruit trees. The pool is a good size and long enough to swim some lengths. My favourite place is the terrace outside the main bedroom. The morning views of the river and wildlife are especially tranquil. At sunset, it’s the best place to relax with a glass of wine and listen to the fish jumping and be quick enough to see them!! Thoroughly recommend it and will hopefully go there again! Debbie and Tony Semke from Bracknell
