Description

Hello from Hendersyde! Millsyde is the largest of our three holiday cottages, all stand in blissfully peaceful spots on our family farm, between The River Tweed and Eden Water, to the east of the delightful market town of Kelso, a five minute drive away.

Millsyde offers you space and seclusion. There's room to relax in the garden. The terrace gives easy access through the hall to sociable space in the kitchen, where there is lots of room for every-one to gather.

The sitting room offers yet more room to relax, perhaps by the glow of the wood burner in winter!

The master bed room has a king-sized bed and en-suite shower room.

The other two bedrooms can be prepared as twin or super-king beds. They share the family bathroom, with a double ended bath & separate shower.

The utility room has space for a dog’s bed, as well as the washing machine & pulley. If you do bring a dog, they live in the kitchen and utility room.

Warmed by central & under floor heating, wood burner & solar panels, Millsyde is comfortable & cosy throughout the year.

The boot room & secure double garage are handy for storing fishing rods, bikes and golf clubs, and houses the table-tennis table.

Our own Hendersyde website has pages of suggestions for exploring The Scottish Borders and north Northumberland!

You can relax and unwind, discovering the joys of friendly local towns with vibrant small business and amazingly talented makers and designers, who often run creative courses.

The Border Country is a wonderful area to walk, cycle, ride, fish, golf, and explore the area's rich history and scenery. From the coast to the hills, rivers and lochs Hendersyde is well placed, so you don't have to travel for miles!

If you would like to go further we are roughly midway between Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Our terms, conditions, prices, discounts and contact details are clearly displayed on our website.

If you have any queries don't hesitate to get in touch - I will be happy to help! Sue

Family friendly home from home

By Katy on 01-Feb-2025

We recently stayed in Millsyde cottage for a couple of weeks with our newborn and toddler. It was a beautiful setting, a home from home. We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable setting and the house was perfectly prepared and stylish. Sue was really lovely and such a welcoming host, making us some delicious shortbread on arrival! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend to family and friends. She really has thought of everything and if we could have moved in, we would have! Thanks so much again for giving us the most homely stay. We won’t ever forget it!

Luxury Home from Home

By Judith S on 23-Aug-2024

This is our 3rd visit, staying in Millsyde cottage. We are never disappointed. The quality of the cottage and its facilities is second to none. I would say a home from home, but it is possibly better than that. The owners are always on hand should you need them ready to oblige all your requests. It’s a shame to write this review as it may make it more difficult to book in future‍️

High class and peaceful retreat near the River Tweed

By David Scott on 28-Apr-2024

The cottage is everything that has been written about it; spacious (more so than the photos show), tranquil, wonderful for wildlife and well placed for so many visits in the eastern Borders (assuming they are open, of course). Each room is well set out and storage is huge. The kitchen is as good as anything we have encountered. The bed we used was very comfortable. We saw Barn Owls, heard other owls, saw heron, buzzards, stoats, many hares and several deer, all from the house or lane. Gentle walks are on hand and there's the odd surprise - there is a monument to the author of "Rule Britannia", born in Ednam, about a mile away and easily walkable. Mobile reception is variable and not always easy to obtain; not all makes of smart phone link to the Wi-Fi. Communication from Sue was swift , first class and very friendly; we were delighted to have a couple of chats with each of the owners, Sue and Henry Beck. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Millsyde Cottage as a quality stay

Supremely comfortable.

Impossible to fault any aspect of Millsyde and Sue’s attention to detail. The beds are extremely comfortable, the heating and modern design keep everywhere snug. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with appliances and above all outside the air is fresh and all you hear is bird song!

Millsyde

By Melanie Jones on 18-Aug-2023

There is a reason we have been staying at Hendersyde for 12 years. Millsyde is ideal for our family, plenty of space inside & out for teenagers!! Added bonus of table tennis table and plenty of family games. The Cottage, as always, was immaculate as was the surrounding garden. If you want peace and quiet then Millsyde is ideal, the only noise you'll hear is the occasional owl or geese flying over and if you're lucky you might see the combine harvester in the surrounding fields. Lots of local walks, some starting from the farm. Ideal location for local rail link as well, 30 minutes to Tweedbank Station and direct train into Edinburgh. Sue Beck couldn't be more helpful and always has new recommendations for places to visit for all ages. Nothing is too much trouble for Sue. We shall be returning for our 13th year next year.
