Lovely private hide-away with amazing wildlife in a secluded garden (secure enough for your own dog too). The owners very kindly kept the bird feeders topped up through the week and we saw 17 different types of birds - two red squirrels also visited every day. The beach is just a two minute stroll away - a little sand but a lot of shells and perfect for watching the boats on the Solent. The cabin is lovely and clean with everything you need and comfortable garden furniture. There is a barbeque too but sadly the weather didn't perform for us this week, so we didn't get to test drive this. Perfect accommodation for two people.
This was our second stay and it was every bit as enjoyable as our first. The cabin is small put perfectly formed with a spacious shower room, lounge/kitchen and a twin bedroom. The Kitchen is very well equipped and everything has been well thought out , well presented and clean. The garden is lovely and frequented by lots of English garden birds ( robins, blue tits etc ) and the naughty red squirrels who steal their nuts. The beach is a short walk from the property , although it’s not a huge sandy beach it is full of shells and nice and clean. Huge ocean liners can be observed leaving Southampton for foreign shores ( times are listed so you can go down to watch them ). There are plenty of supermarkets , large and small nearby, and all the varied attractions of this holiday Island. We chose it because it welcomes dogs and it was our first holiday outing with our 20 month old dogs, unfortunately they got a bit overwhelmed with the whole “ holiday experience” and we were lucky we’d booked here as we could just chill around the garden with them , which we did. I really don’t want to tell the world about this hidden gem, because I love it , and as it’s pretty unique it gets booked up but in all fairness I have to say it’s lovely and if you do decide to stay you’ll really have a get holiday. They also have a slightly larger cabin next door for families , but just the two, this is a small family run business and all the better for it.
Wow is the first thing that came to mind as soon as we saw where we were staying . A perfect retreat away from it all with the fab beach a very short walk away what more could we want. Garden wonderful with all its wild life the red squirrels very entertaining. The cabin was so cute and was wonderful to arrive to tea coffee or hot chocolate with cookies plus a pint of milk in the fridge so considerate. Debbie so welcoming sadly didn't meet Steve he was on grandad duty. The cabin is a perfect hide away with all you need in it the garden was great too . Thanks for a wonderful stay if we visit the Isle of Wight again we will only ever stay with you xxx
On arrival we first wondered where we were going to put all of our things into the small cabin, but once we were unpacked all was fine. There is a bedroom with two pine single beds, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers, there is also space under one of the beds, and drawers under one bed. The other room is the kitchen/diner/living area, again compact but fine for us two adults and our dog. There is only a two seater settee for sitting on (apart from chairs at the table). Contents of the cabin were of a high standard, bedding, towels, crockery etc. The garden is lovely, grassy area surrounded by trees giving complete privacy, large decked area with comfy seating, another table and chairs on the grass for the morning sun. Bird feeders attracted lots of birds and red squirrels much to our dogs delight and ours! Location is great, a stones throw from a beach for walking the dog. There are no pubs in close walking distance, however there is a restaurant/bar on the next door site which has cabins for rent (it was very quiet) The Isle of Wight is small anyway so everything was within driving distance. If I visited the island again I would stay here. Owners lovely too.
The owners Debra and Steve have made the accommodation extremely comfortable both inside and out. The one bedroom lodge is small but more than adequate for two adults and our two small dogs, the bonus is the wonderful garden and the wildlife that joined us. Both Debra and Steve supply everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday, including tea coffee milk sugar biscuits and orange juice on arrival. Biggest disappointment was having to leave.
Although we enjoyed our stay at woodside lodge it did seem a bit of a squeeze. We are a couple and it would have been quite cramped for a family. Saying that the outside space was lovely and had nice chairs with comfy cushions. The garden is a great space with wild birds feeding and an abundance of red squirrels. We found the bed settee a bit uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. The lane leading down to the woodside beach retreat has a lodge park on the right which I wasn't expecting; you turn left to get to the two woodside beach retreat lodges and once in the gardens you feel very private. The beach is mainly shingle with a bit of sand and was allways very quiet and peaceful. Jill and john (surrey)
