Description
Stag Cottage is a remarkably beautiful Listed building, reputed to be the oldest property in Heptonstall, built in Elizabethan times (C1580).
Stag Cottage oozes charm and retains many original features, including stone mullioned windows, arched lintels, wooden beams and a king post truss with wattle and daub. It is nestled in the heart of the old village, away from the main road but within a stone's throw of all the village amenities. The Cottage sleeps 3 adults with a kingsize bedroom together with a single bedroom. A 4ft 6' high beam separates the kitchen from the living area.
Heptonstall is a beautiful and historic hill top village situated in the heart of Calderdale, West Yorkshire, some 500 feet above the popular and bustling town of Hebden Bridge. The village has a post office, a cafe and two thriving pubs.
The surrounding countryside is breathtaking, ideal for walking and cycling, including the nearby National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags. There are literary links to both the Brontë family in nearby Haworth and to Ted Hughes and his wife Sylvia Plath, who is buried in the village churchyard. The unique and popular town of Hebden Bridge is just a short walk down the hill, offering dozens of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes.
