Description
Tremorna is an ancient fisherman's cottage with stunning views out to sea and its own 'secret' garden, perched above Helford Creek with private access to the beach via its own quay.
This is the perfect location for paddleboarding, wild swimming and boating in the Helford River, Cornwall's most beautiful and unspoilt estuary.
The cottage has a peaceful atmosphere, yet is just 50 metres from the village shop and less than 100 metres from the village pub, serving hot meals and good Cornish beer.
The cottage and garden
Welcome to a delightful, spacious cottage of great character. The house offers wonderful views down a beautiful and undeveloped estuary and has an atmosphere of calm and quiet, but the jewel in its crown is its secluded garden. The garden's terrace is perched 20 metres above Helford Creek and has uninterrupted views out to sea – a spectacle of never ending interest.
Steps take you down to a private quay and from there to the shore itself – the perfect place to launch a paddleboard or kayak for a morning spent exploring the estuary. We provide a sit-on kayak for our guests to use – so it really is easy to get on the water and start discovering the wooded creeks, little quiet coves and the amazing variety of sea life within this pristine natural environment.
The cottage has three double bedrooms. One has a double bed, the middle bedroom has two cosy bunk beds, and the third bedroom is another large double with two single beds that can be pulled together like a double (we don't provide a double duvet for this). All three rooms have views down the estuary. Downstairs there is a kitchen with dining table, cooker, washing machine/dryer, and fridge, and a spacious sitting room with a glorious open fire and thick cob walls. Both downstairs rooms also have views down the estuary, but the views are particularly good from the kitchen.
Tremorna has been our family holiday home for over 50 years, since our parents bought it. We came here on holiday as children, and our children have come here on holidays all their lives. We welcome guests who appreciate a cottage of character in a spectacular and unspoilt location, with access to one of Europe's most ecologically rich and beautiful estuaries.

Other things to note
The main garden is across the tiny single lane road that runs past the front of the cottage. You reach the garden by stepping out of the gate at the front of the cottage, going left about three metres, and then going through a gate on the right into the garden, which is hidden and not overlooked from the road. The road itself is very quiet and access-only during the summer months, and day visitors have to park at the car park at the entrance to the village. This means very little traffic passes. Even though the main garden is separated from the house by this tiny road, it feels very close.
