Description

Pule Cottage is situated at the end of a row of three 18th century crofters' cottages set in a unique position high above Halifax, approximately 1000 ft above sea level, and benefits from magnificent views over the town and rural countryside that is Calderdale. The town of Halifax sits in the valley below, and is still only 5 minutes away by car, this is what makes Pule Cottage unique – 'the setting'.
Why not take that deserved weekly break or just enjoy a long weekend in our fully refurbished cottage that can serve as a base for visits to Skipton, Haworth, Hebden Bridge and the Yorkshire Dales. With excellent links to the M62 and M1 it is ideally situated with easy access to Halifax and Calderdale's beautiful moors and countryside as widely seen on TV during the coverage of Le Tour de France in 2014 and more recently the Tour de Yorkshire.
Pule Cottage is minutes away from Bankfield Museum and Shibden Hall and Park, once the home of Anne Lister and the location for the BBC Drama Series 'Gentleman Jack'. Halifax and Calderdale have also been the location for many other TV and Film dramas including Last Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley, To Walk Invisible, Ackerley Bridge, The Last Witch and many more, some being filmed in our local vicinity.
The cottage has been fully renovated and refurbished. Lovingly restored with original beams, exposed stone and mullioned windows and sills. The spacious sitting room has flagged stone flooring with original inglenook and log burner stove offering that warm and cosy ambiance for a relaxing evening watching TV, DVD or listening to music. There is also a large Sofa Bed in the sitting room and a walk-in shower room on the ground floor. There is a separate Kitchen diner/Snug with butler sink, oak worktops, washer/dryer, fridge, dishwasher, etc where you can catch up on your emails or simply relax and watch TV with a cup of coffee or share that alfresco moment on the delightful sun terrace taking in the full vista of the magnificent landscape.
The first floor offers a spacious bedroom with a King Size bed, open beamed ceiling, a sitting area with tea/coffee facilities, mullioned windows looking out over the wonderful views and a 45” Smart TV. There is a large en-suite shower room with rain shower. The Cottage is centrally heated throughout.
ACTIVITIES:
Walking, cycling – there are many lovely country walks only minutes away from the cottage. If a keen cyclist there is the challenge of the ‘Shibden Wall’ at the end of the lane. The Calderdale Way is also close by and takes in the beautiful Shibden Valley and the Anne Lister Walks.
A 5-minute drive away is the magnificent Piece Hall, the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Halifax and a must see when visiting the area.
If you book ahead you could also pay a very relaxing visit to Le Petit Spa at the bottom of the lane, one of the top Yorkshire Spas on Trip Advisor and well worth a visit.
In its unique setting Pule Cottage can be that holiday break we all deserve.

A little slice of hill top luxury!

By clairewE9511HK on 24-Sep-2022

a stay in Aug 2022 We recently had a 3 night stay in Pule Cottage and loved it from start to finish! From the warmest of welcomes from Karen and George, to exploring the delights of the cottage and all of the lovely, thoughtful extras that were left for us, to then standing for hours at the kitchen sink just taking in the view!! What a view!!! The cottage had everything we needed and more for a self catering stay, with lots of information on hand about local restaurants. We enjoyed some fabulous walks straight from the front door, not for the faint hearted mind you! We look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful Cottage with fantastic views of Halifax

By L7484ROdianes Rawmarsh, on 31-Aug-2022

a stay in Jul 2022 We have just returned from a few days at the beautiful Pule cottage. Hosted by Karen & George who made us feel very welcome, you could not ask for more. The cottage was very clean and had everything you could think of, the welcome pack of flowers, chocolates and wine along with the bread, milk, eggs, cake and butter. Also the provision of different teas and coffee and breakfast items. Looking forward to our next visit which has been booked for December where we will hopefully have the opportunity to use the wood burner. The cottage has been modernised to a very high spec and overall feels very homely.

Charming cottage with amazing views

By Maldred Tavernier, Florida on 25-Jul-2022

Stayed later half of May for just under 2 weeks. Everything we needed for extended stay visiting family nearby. George & Karen were very welcoming. Great to have 2 full baths and kitchen. Queen bed was very comfortable. Parking just down the road was a minutes walk. Occasional helicopter landings were entertaining and grazing sheep provided photo ops. Perfect location for day trips to many Yorkshire heritage sites. Highly recommended and will stay again.

WOW!, WOW! WOW!

Just returned from Pule Cottage (reluctantly!). What a beautiful place, the views are spectacular, both through the day and especially at night when Halifax is lit up. The Cottage is fantastic,. a real home from home with everything you need to enhance your stay. Our hosts Karen & George are lovely. and provide a Welcome Pack which was very much appreciated. The Calderdale Valley is well worth a visit, so much to do, a must is Shibden Hall, Hebden Bridge, Howarth(Bronte Country), or just a drive through beautiful Calderdale all with in easy distance. Then again it was lovely just to sit in the garden with a coffee enjoying the tranquil and beautiful scenery. We will certainly be back, thankyou Karen and George for making our holiday so enjoyable

Beautiful home from home

Karen & George are a lovely couple who clearly will do their best to make sure your stay goes well. A welcome pack and fresh flowers were left which were very nice. The cottage itself is beautifully clean, well maintained and very homely. The views are fantastic from all rooms. Washing up was a pleasure with the view from the kitchen sink!! We would happily recommend the cottage to others and am in no doubt we will visit again ourselves. Thank you again Karen & George .

A hidden gem

By Kezzar53 Warwickshire, United Kingdom on 15-Mar-2022

The cottage has incredible views. The photos don''''''''t do it justice. Washing up is a pleasure as you look out over the view. It is warm and comfortable. It has been beautifully decorated and kept impeccably clean. Everything you need is there. Karen and George have thought of everything. The little touches really set this cottage apart. A bottle of wine, cake, eggs, butter, fresh flowers, chocolate, conserves and cereals. It really is a hidden gem.
