Overview
Description
Clovercliff is a gem of a cottage that overlooks the sea and some of the most spectacular coastline in the 'Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' if not the British Isles. Perched two hundred feet above and within three hundred yards of the coast of the Bristol Channel, it can be found in Google Earth at 51 deg. 33’ 34.23”N and 4 deg. 16’ 24.24”W. Whether you like walking, painting, bird watching, surfing, climbing, paragliding, or want a great location for a family holiday this is an outstanding place within 10 minutes walk of Mewslade Bay. It is also within a mile and a half of Rhossili which boasts three miles of sandy beach. For peace, quiet away from traffic noise and somewhere to relax and watch the changes in light and weather, it often seems unbeatable. Many spectacular walks can be taken directly from the cottage along the coast or over Rhossili Down with Mewslade Bay only a short 10 minute walk along the coast path. Other natural and historic wonders of The Gower are within easy reach by car or bike. You could also venture further to Swansea with its shops, or to the National Botanic Garden of Wales, or the historic castles of Kidwelly, Weobley and Penrice.Clovercliff is ideal for family holidays (with or without a dog) and many visitors return year after year but please note, our CHANGE-OVER DAY IS SATURDAY.

Leave ReviewA wonderful find!
By Roger Webb on 01-Mar-2025We love staying in slightly out-of-the-way places, and this is perhaps the best for that feeling of being on your own. Beautifully placed only yards from the Gower coastal path, with nothing in front but the magnificent view of the sea and the coast in each direction. The house itself is very interesting for its 30s architecture and family history, and is well equipped for a comfortable stay - particularly, the kitchen has everything...and that view! The bedrooms are very comfortable....and that view again from the master! The lounge has a fine woodburner with logs provided.....and that view! Liz was very helpful with the booking, as we are not particularly 'tech-savvy' with online banking etc. A perfect stay.......Oh, and did I mention the view?!
A Truly Special Place
By Kay Pearce on 24-Aug-2024We have holidayed at Clovercliff, as a family, many times over the last 16 years and it never disappoints. A great base for families with younger children with beautiful beaches nearby, a great selection of games and a safe, grassy garden for sunny evening play. With teens and for adults, we have truly managed to escape the digital age and spend real quality time together. By day, walking, running, cycling, bird watching and surfing and by evening reading, playing board games or enjoying cold refreshment with a truly unbeatable view. The ‘few frills’ cottage is always well cleaned and maintained. It has everything you need and is a haven of tranquility. If you enjoy the outdoors and want to ‘get away from it all’ I cannot think of anywhere better. Though the internet is not great and there is no tv, this only served as a positive for us.
Best we have found in Gower, and we have done quite a few
By STeve on 18-Aug-2018Phenomenal location... truly phenomenal . Ace house. Very snug with a great garden for running around in.
A Magical Place
By Nigel R on 30-Jul-2016Clover Cliff Cottage felt like home from the minute we arrived. It felt welcoming and warm, and had absolutely everything we needed. We also enjoyed not having a television, it made our break relaxing, and we played games, (lots of which are provided), read (a good variety of interesting books and maps are also provided), but probably spent the most time watching the light change over the most spectacular view. The view is just stunning, and on full display from all the main living areas of the cottage, and a couple of the bedrooms. On misty mornings it was quite hypnotic watching the view reveal itself as the sun burnt off the mist. In the evenings we sat outside and watched the sun set with a glass of wine...bliss ! We walked a lot, directly from the cottage on the Coastal Path. We walked to Rhossili, The Worms Head, Mewslade Bay and to Port Eynon 6 miles along the Cliffs, the dog was exhausted ! We did need the dogs lead though, the cliffs are steep and sheep plentiful ! In all, we had a very peaceful and relaxing week at Clover Cliff, we unwound completely and were very sorry to leave. It casts quite a spell on you .. We loved it and will be going back as soon as we can. The Randalls and Rosie the BMD.
Another 5 stars from us
By Maria K on 02-Aug-2014"Us" is: a Mum, two grown-up sons (21 and 18) and their teenage sisters (16 and 14). We all enjoyed the place so much. The biggest compliment is that even the beloved computer was not missed! It is obvious that the location is for nature lovers - we recommend hiking boots. We had warm and sunny weather but could also imagine the place to be very cozy in less favourable conditions. The personal information provided regarding the history of the house and the surrounding landscape was much appreciated and contributed to the fact that we felt well and at home and - for the short period that we were there - also responsible for the preservation of this wonderful spot on earth. So good luck to Clover Cliff, Liz, Oliver and Gail and all the future guests. Recommended for: Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
