Description

Our house is a spacious restored Provencal farmhouse, tastefully modernised but still retaining many original features.

The house is nestled in the heart of Gigondas vineyards with views over the vines and is an ideal location for walking, cycling, wine tasting, or just relaxing.

About the property:
From the covered carport, you approach the front of the house, it is a secluded walled garden surrounding the good-sized, heated salt water swimming pool off to the right, which gives you the privacy to relax and enjoy yourselves.

Through the front door, the stairs are straight ahead with the kitchen/dining area to the left and living room to the right.

Turning left there is a huge dining room with a large extendable table with seating for 10+ and, following on, a spacious well-equipped kitchen. There are all the expected appliances (fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, gas hob) and we also provide a Nespresso coffee machine and kettle. Just off the kitchen, you will find a utility space with a washing machine and a downstairs bathroom.

To the right of the front door, the living room is a large room with a wood-burning fireplace and a large 3-seater sofa and chairs. There is a small mezzanine area at the end of the room with a bookcase if you fancy swapping your holiday read.

Through the living room is the bar area, stocked with glasses for indoor and outdoor use, as well as a smaller fridge and freezer. Perfect for popping in for cold drinks while you’re relaxing by the pool. We do provide a safe for your use and this can be found through the studded door in the old Cuve a Vin behind the bar.

The summer room adjacent to the bar has further seating, with a rattan sofa and chairs. We have some board games and a boule set available in the cupboard, should you need a break from the sun. This room looks out onto the pool and outside dining area and BBQ.

Going up the stairs from the front door, there are 3 large, airy bedrooms (1 king, 1 double, 1 twin beds). Following the hallway round, you will find the family bathroom and separate toilet.

On this floor, connecting the summer room and bedrooms is also the master bedroom. A massive bright room, this bedroom has a king-sized bed and dressing table as well as a large wardrobe. This room has an ensuite, with a separate bath and shower. The room has a dual aspect, looking out onto the vineyards behind the house as well as the garden, pool and vineyards in front of the house. Truly the star views of the whole house!

Local Activities:
Wine
You are in the heart of wine country here, with wine producers in the village and within easy driving distance in the surrounding area. If you want to venture further afield, Chateau-Neuf-de-Pape is only 20 minutes by car.
Many villages have a local producers wine shop where you can taste wines from the area without having to go from domaine to domaine.
There are also several wine festivals in July and August, including our nearest village of Voiles, as well as Vacqueyras, Cairanne and Rasteau to name but a few.

Markets
Local markets are a way of life down here and whether looking for souvenirs or your shop for the day they are a must when visiting the south of France. There is one every day of the week in the area.
Our favourites are Vaison-la-Romaine (for a bit of everything) and Sainte-Cecile-les-Vignes, Nyons is a little bit of a drive but the local olive oil is delicious and the market offering is great.
Just make sure you get there early to park as the markets can get very busy.

Cycling
For the cycling enthusiasts Mont Ventoux is part of the Tour de France and is within reach of the house. For the more amateur cyclist, we have bikes available to explore the local vineyards as well as an old railway line where you can cycle for many miles.

Walking
The Dentelles can be seen from the house and are full of trails, just make sure you pack comfortable walking shoes as the terrain can be a bit steep.

Highly recommend this beautiful property

By Angela Frost on 10-Aug-2024

We had a fantastic stay - the house is in the most beautiful location with stunning views and surrounded by the vines - unbeatable for peace & quiet. There is plenty of room to spread out with different areas to relax but equally lots of space for getting together as one large group for meals, games and, of course, a bottle of wine or two! La Beaumette was very comfortable, extremely well equipped and big enough for us all (Two family groups with grown up children/teens). We all loved the garden and outdoor spaces and the pool was superb. We visited markets at Vaison La Romaine and Orange, did wine tasting at some of the many vineyards of the area, took a day trip to Marseille and had a truly memorable evening at La Nuit des Vins in the nearby village of Rasteau - an absolute must if you're in the area when it's on. The weather was fantastically hot during our stay so air conditioning in the bedrooms would have been useful but we managed with the many fans provided. A big thank you to Nicky and Steve for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. We hope to be back very soon.

Thank you so much for your review and we are so pleased you and your friends enjoyed yourselves, plenty more to see and do and many more wines to taste.

Outstanding Accommodation in an irresistible location.

By Mike and Chris on 27-May-2024

We have lost track of the number of times we have stayed at La Beaumette over the years, it just keeps drawing us back. The house itself is fantastic with multi zone living spaces and a fantastic kitchen/dining area that is perfect for those big family meals. Evenings spent dining on the terrace, under the grape vines have always been memorable for us. On our last visit, we brought our grown children and their families. The garden is a delight and the refurbished pool was just magic with many great afternoons playing with the grandchildren. We cannot think of anything we needed that wasn’t in the house, clearly Nicky has fitted it out as though it was her own home! The location is outstanding for morning or evening walks through the surrounding vineyards. There are a number of winemakers in the village and cellar door sales at Domain Saint Damien is one of our favourites. There are plenty of local village markets where one can purchase ready-cooked delicacies or fresh ingredients for home prepared meals. Our hosts have always advised us to go early in order to avoid the crowds. There are so many attractions close by, so plan plenty of time to visit, but Avignon, Nimes, Pont du Gard, I’Isle sur la Sorgue & Mont Ventoux are just a few of the ‘musts’. Finally, but not least, our hosts Nicky and Steve are wonderful. They are always contactable for help and advice. Their local knowledge is incredible and if you are looking for a wine or winery recommendation, Steve is the go-to. Steve and Nicky, thank you for providing such a wonderful house for our Provençal vacation. We will be back!

Very enjoyable stay in characterful spacious provincial Farmhouse

By Roddy McNeil on 14-May-2024

We had a very enjoyable 2 weeks staying at this characterful Provincial farmhouse. The owners have done a great job restoring this property, which is situated at the rear of a small hamlet, The hamlet and surrounding farms are very quiet, lending your holiday a feeling of rural tranquility, but there is easy road connections to the surrounding villages by car with, for example Gigondas being approx 10 minutes drive, or Vaison La Romaine about 20 minutes by car. The property is spacious and the interesting layout means that everyone can have some privacy - we were a couple plus 2 grown teenagers - and it never feels cramped. The photos on the website give a very honest view of the property - its one of the few houses I have rented where the reality is actually better than the pictures ! The outdoor area is equally charming, with a gated driveway leading to a walled garden surrounded by vineyards, all adding to the feeling of privacy. There is an outside dining area, built in Stone BBQ, some cosy seating areas, with the centre piece being the large swimming pool - refreshing during th long hot summer days - but equally special under the clear night skies. The owners are very friendly and live in an adjoining part of the property, so are on hand in case you need anything (we didn’t !).

Perfect stay

By Alison Sansom on 09-Sep-2023

We stayed in La Beaumette in September 2023. A perfect environment for a family holiday. The country house nestled amongst vines and well located to be able to make the most of local amenities, wine tasting in nearby villages, historic markets and nearby cultural attractions such as Orange. The pool was amazing and favourite times were spent in the pool with food and drink served under the terrace. The house was easy to get to by car, friends joined us by air (Avignon) and by train (Avignon/Orange) Impeccable hosts made the stay really special. We hope to return very soon.

We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone

By Mark and Fe on 09-Aug-2023

We had a very lovely week in your house and surrounding area. The house had everything that you could possibly need and it was very quiet and peaceful The outside dining area saw a lot of use and was a great area for us to entertain ourselves We traveled around a bit as far away as Vallon Pont D’Arc and chateau neuf du pape We also ate out most days either midday meals or evening We also visited the markets in Vaison La Romaine which can easily take up a day of your life There’s loads to do in the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit

A super property in a fabulous location

By Bryan Smith on 05-Aug-2023

A super property in a fabulous location. Nicky and Steve were excellent hosts: they offered us a warm welcome and were on-hand to give us suggestions for local visits and to help should any unexpected emergencies arise (none did for us!). The house had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday in Provence. It was very well furnished from the big items down to the small details - in fact, it was one of the best-equipped holiday properties we have stayed in (and there have been many). The house is cool inside and the room that leads to the excellent outdoor dining area and pool is a delight. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many walking and cycling opportunities, ranging from leisurely pedalling across largely flat and gentle terrain to more adventurous trips ascending some of the challenging cols. It goes without saying that the food and wine were fabulous too. La Beaumette is high on our list for a return visit!
