Lamonstonie is the perfect mix of pool, tennis, beautiful garden, star gazing, the soft tolling of nearby cow bells, chateau grandeur and outdoor eating to thrill and relax any extended family gathering. If you can pull yourself away, kayaking on the lot or Cele, grotte, medieval villages many now sporting sophisticated cafes or interesting caves await.
Wow! What a place! The most amazing weeks stay in the most perfect of venues. We stayed as a group of 10 plus 2 children and the Chateau was perfect for our needs. Excellent location, driving distance of many day trips and amenities. Tres bien!
We traveled to Lamostonie for a week at the start of the summer as a group of 10 plus 6 young children. The group was blown away by the Chateau - the whole experience from booking inquiries to going home was top class. We loved the pool, the tennis court, the table tennis and the beautiful grounds. The Chateau is so pretty it felt like we were in a fairy-tale (which the kids loved!) The rooms were fabulous and everything spotless. We have the Chef cook us some fabulous meals and enjoyed a couple of lovely BBQs as well. I had high expectations going in, but they were surpassed in every way. Really superb and we will definitely be back. A huge thank you to Joanna, Stuart, Frederique and all the team. Perfection!
You couldn''t ask for more from a perfect family week''s holiday: we took 20 family aged from 90 to 12 to Chateau Lamostonie, and we''ve returned with fabulous memories. The booking was really easy as Joanna is so efficient at returning emails/phone calls all through the process, and kindly answering all sorts of questions with great patience. The stunning chateau and its pigeonnier were so comfortable, of a very high standard, clean and fresh (all new mattresses this year). An excellent part of the website is the invaluable chateau floorplan of all the rooms with photos. The swimming pool (with more than 20 loungers so no arguments!), table tennis and tennis court were in constant action, and the grounds are beautiful with mature trees and thoughtful planting so that even in late August there were repeat-flowering roses as backdrops for photos! Quiet lanes to Frayssinet for walking. There was nothing missing that you could possibly want (see previous accurate Tripadvisor reviews!) - lots of space, seating both inside and outside for 20 or more, really well-equipped kitchen, 2 fridge/freezers, 2 dishwashers, 3 washing machines etc, and friendly caretakers. Gabi Francoual cooked supper at the chateau including a great paella one night, and she also left us buffet lunches some days (arranged directly with her, and she was very flexible). It was a short drive to Lamostonie from the A20, and for those flying, the Ryanair flight from Stansted to Brive was easy. Villages within 10-15 minutes for markets, boulangeries and supermarkets, and sightseeing (Cahors/Rocamadour etc) within easy distance. We meant to book canoeing down the Lot river but we were having too much fun as a family at the chateau to get around to it. We were all very reluctant to leave.
