Description

Ardchattan is a stone cottage dating back to the 19th century situated on the Fort William road in the Highland region of Lochaber. The property overlooks a stoney beach, Loch Linnhe and the majestic Beinn Bheithir range of mountains.

To the south lie the villages of Ballachulish and famous Glencoe, home to Glencoe ski resort and mountains such as Aonach Eagach and Bidean nam Bian, all within 20 minutes' drive.

Stunning views across Loch Linnhe to the mountains beyond can be seen from the private decking area to the rear of the cottage, which is set within a large garden.

The centrally heated cottage has been renovated and provides comfortable accommodation for 4-6 people, consisting of one double bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds and a double bed settee in the living room. The kitchen diner is a beautifully converted barn with large Velux windows, stone flooring and exposed stone feature wall. The spacious room is fitted with appliances, including electric hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave.

The living room boasts views to the front and rear, and offers a cosy environment with wood and coal burning stove, including wall-mounted TV with DVD player. Fast Wi-Fi access is also included, which can be used throughout the property. .

The cottage has a fully fitted bathroom with combined bath and shower with toilet and sink, along with a separate small WC.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, subject to age, weight and breed, at a cost of £20 per week.

Excellent location and views

By Ali & Clem on 03-Aug-2024

A lovely, well equipped cottage with comfortable rooms and enormous kitchen! Plenty of Highland sights and walks within 30 minutes drive or bus. We visited Mull, Oban, Fort William, Ardnamurchan, Glen Nevis, Glenfinnan, Skye and Neptune's Staircase for walks, views and leisure, but it was lovely to return to the cottage and its home comforts at the end of each day.

Highland retreat

By Kim on 19-Apr-2024

Ardchattan cottage is a lovely old crofters cottage that has been refurbished by the owner David. It’s on the A82 but was never a problem with the traffic. The cottage was very clean, warm & cosy with a large spacious kitchen. The dogs loved the large garden which was well enclosed. The decking area was a great space for an evening drink looking over the stunning landscape of the loch & mountains. We were very sad to leave. Communication with the owners was always quick. Would highly recommend

Glorious week in April 2023

By Sara and Brian Knights on 22-Apr-2023

Just came back from a week at this beautiful cottage. We could not have been happier with the cleanliness and the well stocked cottage. My little dog loved the garden almost as much as we did sat with a glass of wine ( or 2 ) loving the views over the Loch. David and Wendy were superb nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go back again. Sara and Brian

Beautiful cottage great location

By Kelly bliss-snape on 09-Jan-2023

Everything you could want in a property in a fab location ideal for exploring. This cottage is spacious, warm, comfortable and welcoming. The log burner is a nice touch which we made full use of. The back garden is fantastic with a deck that’s nice and high to take in the wonderful views across the water. The location is great, Ben Nevis, fort William, glen coe and Oban all within a shortish drive. The food is wonderful, specifically the oysters which couldn’t have been fresher. The cannog at garrison west in fort William for food and the Ben Nevis inn for character were our favourites. The pier house inn in appin has a lovely circular walk nearby which is good for working up an appetite for their lovely food. We would definitely recommend this cottage as a base for a west highland holiday!

Lovely cosy cottage in great location

By Sarah Collins on 24-Sep-2022

We enjoyed our stay. It was a lovely cosy cottage in the ideal location to reach lots of different places within the highlands. We would definitely stay again. The property was clean and cosy. We stocked up on wood from the petrol station which is a stone's throw away and set a fire each evening. After packing in lots of different locations throughout the day we only ventured out a few times on a evening. The Glencoe Gathering only a five minute drive away with a treat of music and even the bar man cracking out his bagpipes and The Bothy Bar in Kinlochlevan, a 15-20 minute drive where a large stag sauntered into the road nearing the bar. It was a great trip with good food. The cottage has amazing views and lots of locations to walk/hike if so inclined. The Corran ferry only a 5 minute drive to get you across to the Ardamurchan Peninsula and onto Mull (via a second ferry) but a breathtaking drive to get you there. Locations visited include Glencoe, Glen Etive, Kinlochlevan, Fort William, Mallaig, Camusdarach Beach, Fort Augustus and Urquhart Castle and Glenfinnan. I would recommend the Ben Nevis Distillery if only for the amazing people that work there (as well as the whiskey and fun but informative tour). Great communication with the owner David too.

Amazing cottage

By JUNE HUDSON on 25-Jun-2022

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was very comfortable with lots of extras included. The view from the terrace was amazing. There is access to Loch Linnhe just near the garage by a metal gate. Husband and daughter went paddleboarding a few times on the loch and it was easy to carry the board across the road. Recommend the Bothy Bar at Kinlochleven for food and an amazing view down Loch Leven. Book early for ferry to Mull. It was pretty full up when we booked.
