We initially found these cottages searching for Christmas stays on the web, on bigger aggregate sites, but contacted them direct and we're so glad we did! From the moment we contacted the owners to make the booking, during our stay, and post, the service, responses and actions were exemplary. The accommodations at Mews Hill and Criddlestyle, in the New Forest, were true to the description and photo gallery on the website, and more! Across the two cottages there was more than enough room and comfort to accommodate the family, 16 adults & 3 dogs! We had all our main meals together in Mews Hill with easily enough space and cooking facilities. The lounges, dining areas & kitchens / cooking facilities, were all so well appointed and the bedroom and living areas, comfortable and cosy. There was also enough bathrooms to accommodate everyone! The standout features in each cottage are definitely the log burners, and the decorated Christmas trees in each cottage were the final touch to give it that Christmas feel! Also the hot tub, which was great! A couple of things that could be better are: 1. The wi-fi signal, which on a couple of days was intermittent (more for the younger adults) and 2. The electric car chargers in each cottage. We found it impossible to get these working either using the QR code or downloading the relevant app. (There was a fast charger less than a 5min drive away) Those small points aside, our Christmas week being in the New Forest was the ideal location for walks, including post Christmas dinner and to the local pub! There was a village a short drive away for any needed shopping. Then of course the River Avon a short walk away! So Christmas in two lovely cottages, in a beautiful setting, I'd highly recommend it! Owners response. We have now boosted the wifi signal so the ev charger which relies on the wi fi and the signal has improved.
Mews Hill was a perfect sized and spacious house for our extended family and well situated for the New Forest. We enjoyed playing badminton in the garden and the two dogs loved romping in the adjoining field. The table tennis in the garage was very popular too. We all had a wonderful holiday. Thank you.
Having just stayed in Mews Hill for 3 nights as part of a golfing group, I cannot praise the arrangement more highly. The accommodation is great value and of the highest standard with plenty of room for parking. Fordingbridge is on the edge of the New Forest and is ideal for access to a host of top quality golf clubs both in the Forest and along the south coast. We ate out each evening at 3 different but superb local restaurants all within a short distance (using local minibus transport). Absolutely first class. Will definitely be coming again !
I have just returned from a golfing trip, based at Mews Hill Cottage near Fordingbridge, adjacent to the New Forest and must say that the property was everything you would want in a home away from home. Really comfortable, spotlessly clean, well furnished, and equipped with everything you’d need for a short break. The whole trip was organised from recommending and booking the golf courses, restaurants for our evening meals and even arranging transport to and from. An excellent stay and I have no hesitation in recommending it for a golf tour or family holiday.
Our golf society comprising of 12-18 keen golfers recently stayed at Mews Hill & Criddlestyle Cottages. The accommodation had everything you could want, spacious accommodation, all the facilities required after a hard day on the golf course including hot tub. Easy access to great golf courses, pubs and restaurants. Looking forward to revisiting again next year.
Our group booked Mews Hill and Criddlestyle Cottage again as a base for our annual golf tour and what a great find they have proved to be! Great facilities, very clean, very comfortable, everything you need for self catering as well as being perfectly positioned to access a number of superb pubs and restaurants (Old Beams and Les Mirabelles to name but two). Large comfortable bedrooms, many with en suite, large well equipped kitchen diner and very comfortable lounge and dining room, ideal for unwinding after a tough 18 holes (!). Also perfect location to access a number of great courses in the area. This is the third year we’ve used these premises and delighted that the incredibly high standards have been constantly maintained and improved. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back and already looking forward to next year!
