Description
A magical glamping Peak District retreat for a romantic break.A familiar sight throughout rural England during the 1800’s shepherds huts were originally designed as accommodation during the lambing season, offering shelter for both the shepherd and newborn lambs.
Haddy’s Hut is a spacious, airy and bright bespoke handcrafted shepherd’s hut designed and built to a high standard benefitting from modern day comforts including a warming wood burning stove, en-suite bathroom with fluffy towels, handmade fully equipped kitchen with full size hob and a single oven with grill, comfy patio furniture where you can read the paper or your favourite book and if it becomes chilly light the fire pit. To bring it all up to the 21st century there is WiFi, a combined TV and DVD player, and under floor heating. The hut offers everything you should need, a rural retreat for all seasons.
Tucked away at the end of our no-through road in the heart of the Peak District the hut enjoys a tranquil position with stunning views across and down the Hope Valley.
Whether you are looking for peace and quiet, a romantic retreat, or a base to explore the local area it is important to have the perfect place to stay. Oaker Farm is perfectly sited to explore the local area offering many footpaths straight from the door. Good local bus routes and a train station can be found in the village.

Leave ReviewBeautiful shepherds hut
By Josie on 30-Apr-2025We had a lovely break at Haddys hut. The hut was very well equipped, and comfortable, With beautiful hill sides views. The hut had a lovely and private outdoor seating area. The location is also very good and close to many popular walking spots. I would definitely recommend.
Recharging the batteries in the Peak District
By Andrea on 28-Feb-2025Haddy's Hut was faultless! Even though it was baltic outside, inside the hut was toasty warm with it's underfloor heating and the logburner. The hut was well equipped with everything you would need and I could have happily stayed for longer. The two bird feeders that were visited by a constant variety of birds kept us entertained when we weren't gazing at the amazing view. We went on a lovely walk straight from the door but also ventured into nearby Castleton , Hathersage and Padley Gorge. We will definitely return .
Haddy's Hut - Just perfect
By Storyteller on 31-Jan-2025This was our fourth visit to Haddy's Hut, and it certainly won't be our last. The hut is everything and more that you could wish for, we have stayed in many shepherds huts over the years but Haddy's is the benchmark for all the others, and the one we keep returning to. The layout is so well thought out and it's equipped with everything you could possibly need, it's warm and cosy with a fab shower and the views are just spectacular. The warm welcome that you receive from Julie on arrival is lovely and you are made to feel that nothing is too much trouble should you ever need anything during your stay. It's really hard to leave such a perfect place
Perfect Peak District stay
By Sara on 31-Dec-2024We stayed in Haddy's Hut for 4 nights over New Year and it was just fantastic. The hut had everything you'd possibly need (except a microwave but we didn't miss that at all) and lots more you didn't know you needed - like underfloor heating! I'd ordered a bucket of wood for the log burner but the hut was so toasty warm, we didn't need it. The perfect size for two people, it has been decorated to an extremely high standard, the bedding is lovely and cosy and Julie welcomes you with a delicious homemade cake too! We didn't use the outdoor amenities - they would be great in warmer weather to sit and enjoy the gorgeous view - but we did watch the birds at the feeders and although the farmhouse and cottages are close by, the hut still feels very private. Julie and Stephen provide extensive local information from pubs and food to walks and hiking which we found really helpful. I'd recommend staying here to anyone (and I have!), it's a fantastic accommodation, beautiful location and great hosts. Thank you for a wonderful stay on our first visit to the Peak District.

Luxurious shepherd's hut
By Alix on 31-Oct-2024We stayed in Haddy's Hut and it was incredible. Wonderful attention to detail, comfy bed, lovely duvet, fabulously appointed kitchen, shower was lovely, just an awesome place. Julie was fantastically welcoming, and the lemon cake she left was awesome! Just a fab "hut" full of luxury. Well insulated and comfortable- you may not need that log fire!!
