Cosy cottage full of character, perfectly situated for walks in the countryside. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped which makes cooking there an enjoyable experience - though the nearby pub is definitely worth a visit as well. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
Such a beautiful cottage. Full of history and character with a lovely new kitchen and bathroom. We were pleased with how peaceful it was and how many lovely walking routes were straight out of the front gate. The garden is secure and dog friendly with beautiful flowers and an old, English feel to it. All of the beds were comfy with plenty of room for the four of us and the large entrance area was perfect for the dog as we could close the door at bedtime to give her separation from our bathroom trips. Some evenings were a bit cold but the storage heaters and log burner and cozy blankets kept us warm. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of beautiful plates and every pot and utensil I could think of. The wine and cookies were a lovely welcome too. The cottage is in easy walking distance to 2 lovely, friendly pubs that serve very good food and a short drive to at least 5 more, all of them with beer gardens and dog friendly rooms. We had a lovely week there and can‘t wait to go back!
We stayed for 4 wonderful nights at the Blue Cottage with our 2 dogs. Everything about our holiday was perfect. The communication from Jessica was excellent (from the first email, everything was sorted and booked within an hour) and all our questions were answered clearly. Directions to the property, parking and instructions for the key were all easy and straightforward. The cottage is a real delight, charming, quaint and just lovely! The modern kitchen has everything you need, washing machine and tumble dryer were very handy. The living room had nice comfy sofas and we were all toasty thanks to the log burner which was simple to use. The bath was lovely and deep! It was super dog friendly which was important for us. They loved the garden which was very secure and there are walks to do direct from the cottage and there are wonderful walks just a short drive away. The wifi is excellent and there is a payphone at the cottage we could give out the number to family if they needed to contact which was very handy for us. Jessica rang to check we had arrived safely and rang again at the end to make sure all was well. When we stupidly left behind a charger she was really supportive in getting it back to us. And there was a bottle of wine and biccies on our arrival too! We hope we can go back one day.
We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Cottage and will definitely be booking to go back. The cottage is like something out of a fairy tale, it has so much character, we loved the wonky cob walls and beams. The living/dinning room is an original part of the house and very cosy, with a lovely big fire place & wood burner, the new kitchen is large and extremely well equipped & the bedrooms cosy and full of character. The owner was great to deal with and made sure our stay went smoothly. The location is very beautiful & peaceful, sitting outside in the evenings was so quiet we enjoyed walks in the area, and visited the lovely countryside pubs, the nearby Horseshoe is very friendly with a nice beer garden and serves very good food. The cottage has good wifi and a modern TV so could cosy up & watch films when it rained. This is a real gem and we can thoroughly recommend a stay.
We spent 3 days in this delightfully atmospheric bolt hole. It was very comfortable, clean and with a well appointed kitchen which provided for all our selfcatering needs. The masses of reading material was well used as it poured with rain all our stay. The fire was laid and the wherewithal for hot drinks and biscuits on our arrival was very welcoming. The very tall need to duck when going upstairs! We will be returning with our grandsons.
We returned to Blue Cottage this summer, and once again found it the perfect retreat from the madding crowd, this time for nature walks throughout Dorset's many wildlife reserves and the occasional swim at Durdle Door to cool off. As ever, the quiet and the dark starry nights in the garden were wonderful, and we ate every meal outside in sun and shade. The interior has been renovated since we last stayed, providing an expanded kitchen space and newly appointed bathroom with a really big tub that fills in no time. We especially like the fact that the rebuilt extension to the cottage is in keeping, being simple and well equipped with everything you need and no more. I have stayed at Blue cottage for family gatherings in summer, to write chapters of research, in mid winter for secluded trysts in spring and for get togethers with friends at all times of year and somehow it is always perfect. and we manage to find room for everyone under the thatch.
