Chene Bois was in a quiet location in the beautiful Dordogne but near a town so we could get breakfast croissants every day. The house was superb - it was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The owners left us two lovely bottles of wine to drink. The air-conditioning was useful to cool the rooms at night for sleeping. The highlight for our family was the pool. We spent a lot of time swimming and playing with our kids up there. It was spotlessly clean and there were loads of inflatables and sun loungers. Around the local area, there was lots to do with teenagers. We spent a day canoeing on the river, high ropes at a local park and also visited the local Chateau and towns. We just wished we could have stayed longer.
Had one weeks stay with family (4 adults and 2 under 12). Perfect setting, quiet and secluded. Perfect facilities in the house. Pool lovely. Plenty of space to play outdoor games. Cannot fault this as a holiday venue. Able to contact owner and then property manager, when medical help needed.
We spent a week at Chene Bois with our son and grandson and thoroughly enjoyed all it had to offer. Plenty of space, very well equipped, lovely quiet location yet close to the river and beautiful places like Domme and Roque Gageac. Great towels and bed linen provided and even pool towels! Loads of useful kitchen items left by other visitors. The pool is amazing. Well fenced off for safety, very well maintained and perfect for our very hot week. So glad we found this gem of a place. Thank you for all your help Tim. Would love to return.

Thanks for your lovely review Eileen and Martin. You are welcome back any time.
This is the second time we have visited Chene Bois and it is a truly beautiful place! The villa is great and has everything you could possibly need during your stay. The owners have thought of everything! Air conditioning in the bedrooms is a must when the weather gets hot in august, we had temperatures above 30’s so it was very useful! The pool is a great size with a security gate so young children can’t get in by themselves which is great peace of mind. Lots of loungers, umbrellas and inflatables. The local area is great and has shops and a bar, and the nearby towns are beautiful to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Definitely recommend going canoeing down the river, it’s a great day out! We will definitely be back again!
The house is really well equipped - in terms of kitchen/catering, the lounge area sofas & armchairs, the patio furniture & gazebo, and the BBQ. The WiFi was also great. The pool is fantastic, very accessible with broad steps into it and sufficient space at various depths to accommodate both the paddlers and the swimmers. The Pool area is great with plenty of loungers for relaxing, lots of umbrellas to provide shade and a very secure railing surrounding the pool area to make it child-safe . You seem to have thought of practically everything that a visitor would need for a home-from-home experience. One of the most compelling features for us was the air conditioning in the bedrooms. We’ve really suffered from the heat in other holiday homes and this made a huge difference in getting a good nights sleep when the weather was really warm. The bedrooms were also a good size for us (6 adults). We contacted the local property manager a couple of times and he was super responsive, very friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend this holiday home.
Chene Bois is a large, comfortable house with excellent provisions and facilities and was spotlessly clean upon arrival. We particularly enjoyed the large clean pool, the aircon in the bedrooms at night, and the BBQ and outside dining area for some al fresco dining. The kids also enjoyed having the smart TV and WiFi in the large lounge. There was an assortment of books, games and DVDs too. The villa occupies an excellent location, making it easy to visit local villages including Beynac, Sarlat, Domme, Castelnaud, and Jardins de Marquayssac. Canoeing on the Dordogne was a particular highlight. The villa is situated in spacious, private grounds, in a very peaceful area a few km away from the nearest boulangerie/patisserie in Castelnaud. It is a fantastic area to explore with no shortage of beautiful places to visit. We hope to return to this area and would definitely stay in this villa again.
