LOCATION & ACTIVITIES
A gentle stroll from ‘The Hollies’ is an excellent pub, The Sailors Return, which extends a warm welcome to visitors (and their dogs) with delicious homemade food and a 'pop-up' wood fired pizza van in the summer.
Easy access to beaches, towns and visitor attractions such as Monkey World, The Tank Museum, Lulworth Castle, Corfe Castle, Blue Pool, Swanage railway and Studland beach. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are barely an 8 min drive away.
The Saxon town of Wareham has some great coffee shops and a Saturday market on the quaint little quay.
Alternatively, visit the County town of Dorchester, stomping ground of famous author Thomas Hardy, to peruse fascinating ancient dig artifacts and finds on display at Dorset Museum & Art Gallery, discover mummies at Tutankhamun exhibition or seek local celebrity cat ‘Susie’, who’s recently drawn quite a fan club among visitors, shopkeepers and residents alike.
There really is something for everyone!

WALKS
There are walks straight from the doorstep for most abilities. For those who love a good hike, the end of the lane runs into a bridleway which leads to the South Coast path and it’s possible to walk to Lulworth and Durdle Door or Ringstead and Osmington!

AMENITIES
Just down the road are two well stocked farmshops, 'Jurassic Coast' and 'Kate's, and Winfrith Village Stores for essentials, newspapers, local honey, gifts and a Post Office Counter. The nearest supermarkets are in Wareham or Dorchester, approx 20 mins drive.
For fuel and electric car recharging, the village of Wool is just few miles, where shops include a super little delicatessen ‘The Hidden Deli’, a Spar shop, Boots Chemist, takeaways, hairdressers, hardware store and a train station. There is also a doctor’s surgery in Wool.

The property is super dog-friendly so Norman had a fabulous holiday too

By E Kirk on 25-Oct-2024

Thank you so much Claire!! We have had such a fantastic week in Dorset, filled with lovely walks along the beach and exploring nearby towns and sampling local food and drink. Claire's property is stunning and completely home from home with plenty of space and amenities, we felt so cosy and content during our stay there. The place was spotless and all the appliance instructions were really easy to find so we could use everything we needed, and the property is super dog-friendly so Norman had a fabulous holiday too. Claire is a fantastic host, and really responsive with great reccomendations and little added touches - ginger biscuits were yummy!! We would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a Dorset staycation with their furry friends, and hope to come back soon! " thank you again Claire!

By James Barker on 03-Sep-2024

Claire's place The Hollies was perfect for the two children and I and it was left impeccably for our arrival. The kitchen is fantastic and it has a little garden too where we BBQ'd one night as well. 5 star service all-round and Claire is a lovely host to deal with directly. I would highly recommend this stay.

We stayed at The Hollies and we thought it was fantastic

By M Wilkinson on 04-Aug-2024

We stayed at The Hollies and we thought it was fantastic. The house is modern, clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's in a lovely location where you can go for evening walks with fantastic views and meet some of the local wildlife. It's also close to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door as well as a great pub just a few minutes walk away. Claire is a great host and we would love to stay there again.

We all slept very well in quiet comfortable bedrooms all with a TV

By Eve on 25-Jul-2024

We had a wonderful stay at The Hollie’s - I took my parents and daughter for a little break cross-generational trip! The house suited us all so well. No clutter, very comfortable and clean and very well equipped, easy living. We spent most of time in the kitchen / dining room at the back over looking the garden, bright and sunny in the mornings and cosy in the evenings. We all slept very well in quiet comfortable bedrooms all with a TV. The home has a lovely feel to it. Chaldon Herring is a quiet pretty village and lovely to wander around and visit the church, charming village hall and an very efficient pub. There is a lovely green field just near the house, to run the dog around in the mornings and evening. We visited various spots along the coast and on the way home went via Swanage to revisit childhood memories and had lunch at the Pig over looking Studland Bay - highly recommend. Thanks Claire for all your thoughtful messages and for providing a home from home.
