Description

BLUEBELLS is a lovely self-catering lodge at Dartmoor View Lodges, which has always been a ‘non-pet zone’. A kitchen upgrade was carried out recently including fitting a dishwasher, a tall fridge-freezer and extra storage. The veranda upgrade has also been completed in the last few years.

This lodge differs slightly in that the main bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom is a twin with 3ft single beds with memory foam mattresses. We also offer a ramp in Bluebells for customers who struggle with steps.

BLUEBELLS - a unique opportunity to stay in one of three really cosy log cabins at Highampton which lies between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. Our lodges are constructed from 8" pine logs and are exceptionally warm and welcoming. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation that has views which are absolutely fantastic - right across miles of beautiful Devon countryside to Dartmoor in the distance. South facing with undercover patio. Parking on your own driveway alongside your lodge and garden area for your picnics or for the children to play in. Our lodges are fully furnished for up to four people, and are centrally placed for both the north and south coasts of Devon, and for the North Cornwall Coast - Widemouth Bay and Bude being particular favourites.
Holiday for 7/14 nights or take a short break - our lodges take 4 people comfortably in a main bedroom with a king-size bed (new mattress 2022) and two twins in the second bedroom.

The recently updated kitchen has a dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob and a microwave and in the lounge there's a large smart TV and recently upgraded superfast Wi-Fi throughout. There is a recently renovated shower room with electric shower and the water is mains-fed, so no problem with pressure! There are heaters in all rooms and a log/coal burner in the living area.
The veranda provides useful additional space for outdoor dining with great views.
Superfast Wi-Fi, toy box with games for young children and a table-tennis table, badminton net and swing-ball with equipment. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away with a good selection of cafes and shops. There's also pubs, supermarket + skatepark.
The lodges face south towards Dartmoor - with absolutely fantastic views. See our website for more photographs and details.

Highampton is a small village situated in Ruby country with it’s fantastic selection of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away and has a good selection of cafes and shops. There’s also pubs, supermarket and a new skatepark. The bustling town of Okehampton is a further 7 miles away. In the opposite direction about 7 miles away lies the pretty market town of Holsworthy with the beautiful beaches of Bude a further 9 miles away.

We are centrally placed for all parts of Devon and Cornwall. The area is one of peace and tranquillity, so if it's a quiet base you want for your holiday, then Dartmoor View Lodges is the place to be.

Highampton is a small village with a pub, village hall, school and visiting post-office.

Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are larger and have all the amenities you need. Our site is quiet and tranquil and wildlife is plentiful. In the early morning it is quite possible that you will see deer grazing and there are usually a lot of rabbits around and foxes pay the occasional visit. Birds thrive and we regularly see woodpeckers, tree creepers and buzzards even occasionally a kingfisher. Butterflies are also attracted by the many wild flowers that emerge in the spring. Bats feeding at dusk are a common sight and we enjoy black skies due to very little light pollution - great for stargazing. Outstanding views of Dartmoor which is 10 miles distant and all of the beautiful countryside in between. Situated in a part of Devon that enjoys some of the blackest night skies in the UK due to very little light pollution. This is a sanctuary for wildlife including hedgehogs and bats and birdlife is varied and abundant.

Such a great location, secluded but not a really long way to shops and pubs. So peaceful and a stunning view,we really didn''t want to come home

Beautiful log cabin

By Phil S on 09-Sep-2023

We had a great holiday, started with Andrew showing us to the log cabin to give us a quick run down of the lodge and supporting documentation, which we found really useful. Andrew then left stating if we needed any help with anything do not hesitate to call. The lodge was the cleanest and best equipped that we have ever stayed in, everything has been thought of. Views are amazing and wildlife abounds from birds to rabbits don’t forget to look out for the bats at dusk. Centrally based so easy access to the north and the south coasts and all that offers. Thanks again to Andrew and Sally for the opportunity to stay at such a great location.

A little piece of heaven

The host Andrew met us and was lovely and welcoming. The lodge itself was just perfect, everywhere was spotless and it was so well equipped with high quality items. The beds were comfortable, the views to die for and I really cannot think of any negatives. We will definitely be back and I can recommend this lodge to anyone to stay in. Perfect

This was our second time at Bluebell Lodge, we returned because it’s exactly what we needed - beautiful scenery, quiet location, self-contained space to relax. Andrew was always on call for any messages and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here again. I’ll repeat what I said last time… One of the best stocked Airbnbs we’ve been too. It’s the little things that count but multiple cooking utensils, decent amount of pots and pans, herbs and spices, blankets - so well thought out!

A lovely log cabin with beautiful views south to the hills of Dartmoor. Very peaceful with fields out the back. We sat out on the decking when the sun was warm enough. The cabin was very comfortable and clean with nice furniture. The kitchen had everything that we needed. The nights were a little chilly outside so we used the log burner as well as the electric radiators. The TV had Netflix and Amazon Prime (we logged into our own account). We had days out on Dartmoor and the north coast. We also did a circular walk from the cabin along the Ruby way path and saw a herd of red deer. We had a nice meal at the Half Moon Inn at Sheepwash (we didn''t book and got the last table). Overall a nice relaxing stay, would recommend.
