Description

This charming cottage is an ideal retreat for families or couples offering plenty of space. Doe Cottage has an inviting living room and an open-plan kitchen and dining area ideal for everyone to get together. It also has two bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside you will find a wonderful patio area with seating to enjoy the fabulous views from the cottage. Look no further if location is important to you as Doe Hill House Cottage is in an enviable position with access to the Doe Hill Country Park and the Five Pits Trails leading to the Teversal Trail out of the door without going on a public road. Excellent for walking or cycling.
The famous Hardwick Hall is 6 miles away and was built in the 1590s by ’Bess of Hardwick’, the second most powerful woman in England, after Queen Elizabeth I. The National Trust property is open to the public and showcases its original tapestries and textiles which have survived unaltered for four centuries. Nearby the estate’s original water mill is still in operation and open to visitors, as is the Hardwick Inn, also built in the 16th century. Also popular with visitors is the semi-rural 17th-century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop looking west towards the heights of the wonderful Peak District.
A little further away you will find those Peak District delights, including Chatsworth House and the town of Matlock, as well as stunning countryside. Just a few miles away you can discover the historic market town of Chesterfield which acts as the gateway to the Peak District. Chesterfield is famous for
its 14th century church with a crooked spire twisting from the centre. In nearby Nottinghamshire, visit Nottingham’s Castle or Sherwood Forest to go on a Robin Hood hunt! Nearby is Teversal, a small village in Nottinghamshire which is surrounded by the Teversal Trail Visitors Centre, offering great access to the Teversal and Pleasley trails network, perfect for enjoying a variety of walks and cycle routes.
The location of this charming cottage really is second to none and you will be spolt for things to see and do whilst on holiday in the fabulous area. Shop, pub 1 mile.
One well behaved pet is welcome.

Great holiday, friendly and welcoming hosts. Would certainly visit again. Great simple walks and cycling from front door and only an hour to the National Park. Plenty for National Trust Members to visit too.

Karen Confirmed guest on 09/10/2020 Had a lovely relaxing week at Doe Hill Cottage. We made use of the country park every day for early morning dog walk. Plenty of places nearby to visit with the dog too. Cottage was warm, comfortable and clean and the owners were friendly and accommodating. Great stay.

After not going anywhere in 2020 so far,we just wanted a couple of days away, with scope to walk with our dog.Doe hill was within walking distance to doe hill park and disused railway trails.we walked for miles. The cottage then was a nice place to return to.nice size.Lovely owners. The only criticism would be that it needs an extractor fan in bathroom as bad condensation after shower.

Lovely couple who have opened up the cottage for guests. Made to feel so welcome. High standard of cleanliness. Only gripe - sort out the Internet 珞 joys of living in a rural area . The cottage is very well situated for getting into the peak district. Will definitely be returning!!

The cottage is situated on a working farm and is adjacent to the owners house. This was lovely for us as we have two youngish children and they enjoyed seeing the horses every day. The pictures really don't do the cottage justice. The owners were very friendly and we regularly chatted and they offered help if we required anything. We had a lovely week there and we would definitely return again.
