Description

Modern and comfy, Coldgill View is perfectly placed between the Solway Coast and fells of the Lake District National Park, providing an excellent base for those who want to walk, explore or simply relax. Popular with families, friends and dog owners, this well presented holiday home sleeps up to seven guests in four bedrooms and sits in the Cumbrian village of Great Broughton close to Cockermouth (five minutes drive), Keswick, Bassenthwaite Lake and the coastal town of Maryport. With fabulous uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside, including the River Derwent and fells of the Northern Lakes beyond, Coldgill View enjoys a quiet position to one end of the village. The house has a contemporary decor with all the comforts of home, and has a log burner for cosy winter breaks and a secure garden with decking area for soaking up the sunshine (and glorious views!) in the summer months.

Accommodation is split across two levels, has fabulous countryside views and comprises:

Ground floor

Sitting / dining room with lovely views, comfy seating set around the fire place with log burner, television (with BT box allowing you to watch BT Sport) dining table seating seven, area for reading and French doors that take you outside.
Kitchen well equipped with microwave, extractor over the cooker, American style fridge / freezer (including an ice maker), wine chiller, slow cooker, kettle and toaster.
Utility room with washer dryer, sink, space for drying boots and coats and entrance door.
Additional room off the sitting room with a workstation and access to the downstairs WC as well as storage space for the high chair, stair gate, outdoor seats for the decking etc.

First floor - stairs take you up to....

Landing - a lovely place for sitting and enjoying the glorious views over the surrounding countryside with your morning tea (including the River Derwent and the fells of the Northern Lakes).
Master bedroom with plenty of windows letting the wonderful countryside views flood in, king-size bed, television and en-suite shower with WC and wash basin.
Additional double bedroom with en-suite shower with WC and wash basin and garden views.
Twin bedroom which also looks over the garden. Cosy and sitting next to the house bathroom, there are two standard-size single beds.
Single bedroom with more of those glorious countryside views.
House bathroom with shower over the bath, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin.

Outside: An enclosed garden with lawn area allows you to make the most of the warmer months and lovely views over the surrounding countryside, river and fells. An enclosed decking area (accessible off the sitting room) provides the perfect place for alfresco dining with outdoor furniture, BBQ and sun umbrella. There is a lockable shed for storing bikes, wash-down area and off-road parking for two cars and an EV charger for your sole use during your stay (additional parking available on the lane at the front).

The surrounding countryside, Solway Coast and fells of the Lake District offer endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy wonderful walks straight from the front door, go sailing on Bassenthwaite Lake, paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking on Derwentwater at Nichol End, fishing at Pennybridge, cycling the country lanes or Coast to Coast for more of a challenge.
For day trips out, there are plenty of places to visit in the local area whether it rains or shines. For inclement days, the Wordsworth Museum in Cockermouth, the Pencil Museum in Keswick, the Lake District Coast Aquarium in Maryport, the Lakes Distillery in Bassenthwaite and the climbing wall in Keswick are amongst the many popular choices; or for when the sun shines, take a lake tour from Keswick launch, hire a boat / canoe from the marina, visit the Lake District Wildlife Park or simply lace up your walking boots and set off and explore.
