Overview
Description
Mellowstone is a charming stone-built cottage in a quiet Chideock cul de sac, around 15 minutes walk from the beach at Seatown. The cottage sleeps six people comfortably (one double with en suite, two twin bedded rooms and a family bathroom on first floor). On the ground floor there is a spacious living/dining room, plus a well equipped kitchen, utility area, and cloakroom with WC and basin. The small enclosed and sunny, private back garden has lovely views of the surrounding countryside, and is a great place to relax. There is a single garage plus driveway parking.
In the living room you will find a TV plus DVD player, and a good selection of films, including ones which feature this beautiful area of west Dorset, such as The French Lieutenant's Woman, Ammonite, On Chesil Beach etc. In the ottoman there are plenty of games, jigsaws etc , plus a bookcase with books and maps about the local area.
There is plenty to do in this part of west Dorset- an abundance of scenic footpaths, both coastal and inland, to explore, and a range of beaches within a short drive or bus ride. The nearest town, Bridport, is a great place to wander around, with lots of independent shops, a good range of pubs, cafes and restaurants, and a lively events calendar throughout the year. Lyme Regis and Charmouth are both well worth visiting, whether fossil hunting and rock pooling on the beach, or exploring the museums, shops and eateries. Heading inland there are pretty small towns and villages, with all kinds of activities available, from vineyards with wine tasting to children's farms. In short, Mellowstone provides a great base for wonderful holiday for all ages!
Changeover Day is generally Friday, although out of peak season there is flexibility. The pricing reflects peak season rates, out of main season there is room for negotiation!

Leave ReviewFantastic house
By TheLisles on 26-Jul-2024Lovely house with everything you could possibly need provided. Great location for exploring Dorset and Devon. Really enjoyed our stay in the house and as a bonus the weather was fantastic that week. I would highly recommend staying in Mellowstone. I know I would stay there again if we headed back to Dorset for a holiday.

Well equipped, clean and comfortable
By Helen Wright on 24-May-2024The cottage is spacious and well decorated with genuine artwork. A good selection of books. Nice small but sunny garden. Village shop a short walk away. It was great to be within walking distance of the beach too. Quiet despite main road nearby. The only (minor) downside was having to strip the beds on departure.
