Description

Charming and very spacious (250 sq.m/ 2400 sq.ft) restored Farmhouse surrounded by vineyards in the southern part of the beautiful, unexplored Beaujolais region. Swift access to the city of Lyon (25km - 30 minutes).

In a quiet rural setting surrounded by vineyards, this extensive golden stone farmhouse is located just outside the beautiful village of Charnay-en-Beaujolais, while close to the culture, restaurants and history of the city of Lyon.

Set round a secluded courtyard, the house boasts a private pool in a picturesque 800m2 garden with panoramic views over the village, the Azergues valley and surrounding vineyards.

Four large bedrooms allow a comfortable stay for eight adults, while the fully equipped modern kitchen opens directly onto the sheltered terrace and barbecue for al fresco cooking and leisurely meals around the large outdoor table.

Three of the large bedrooms (2 double beds; 1 with two single beds) and a family bathroom (with both bath & shower) are upstairs, while the ground floor bedroom (1 double bed) has an en suite bathroom (shower) and courtyard access. Two of the first floor bedrooms open onto a large terrace with access via an external staircase to the courtyard and garden, as well as internal stairs.

The spacious living room and dining room are cosily furnished and open onto the courtyard. Thick stone walls and a quarry tiled floor keep it comfortable in the heat of summer whilst a wood burner in the living room can be used on cooler nights.

A pretty garden, complete with deckchairs and loungers, provides a quiet, relaxing outdoor space around the private salt pool (10m x 5m with steps). The pool is unfenced but fitted with an electric cover than can be closed and secured for full child safety. The pool and garden are solely for your use and are not overlooked.

The beautiful Beaujolais countryside is much loved by the French for its hiking, cycling and riding trails, while those in search of culture can roam the ancient streets of Lyon and discover its beauty and history. house, perfect for families, has been tastefully renovated preserving many of the original features (stone staircase and fireplace) but offers the comfort of modern living. There is nearby golf in Anse (10 minutes), tennis (by booking) in Marcy and a large lake for leisure activities (lake swimming, kayak rental etc.) at Lac des Sapins (40 minutes).

The house enjoys easy access from central Lyon (30 minutes), St. Exupéry Airport (45 minutes) and the A6 motorway (15 minutes).

Comfortable home in stunning location

Our family of five had a wonderful time in this beautiful Beaujolais spot. The house is spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed – including a gas BBQ for al-fresco dining and the pool, which kept the kids happy all day!

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. So well equipped and perfectly cation for exploring Beaujolais, Rhone, Burgundy region. Peter was so communicative. The house is fantastic for 2 families (one twin and double are adjoining but the 4 children used those without any problem). The views are stunning. It's rare to find a holiday home that feels so rural and remote yet is within a short drive to shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend!

Extremely comfortable holiday home

This house in the south of the Beaujolais has been an outstanding place for our summer holidays. Situated in the campagne, with vineyards around and amazing views on green hills. The village is a short walk uphill, with some elementary shops among them a boulangerie and a cafe. Lyon is by car or by train at half an hour distance. Lyon is a must with history, musea, and is a culinary hotspot. For bikers the house is an ideal starting point for short or long trips. And the same applies for people who rather walk. A guide to Beaujolais wine you can find elsewhere but we have to mention next-door neighbour, Jean-Paul Brun, a well known nonconformist wine maker. The house itself is roomy and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, covered terrace, nice garden, good swimming pool. Large sitting room and dining room, four large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Decorated with tiles, nice paintings, books, large chairs and couches.
