Description

La Grange is a brick built, tile roofed accommodation comprising three double bedrooms, living room and kitchen/diner. Bedroom 1 is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and is en suite. Bedroom 3 has bunk beds and a single bed, ideal for children. This is also en suite. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV, dvd player, books, cd's and dvd's. The kitchen/diner has chairs and table, fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, plates, glasses etc and has views overlooking the open farmland opposite. The kitchen door leads to a shaded, covered terrace with table and chairs for al fresco eating, a charcoal barbeque . Two sun loungers are provided as well. There is access to the solar heated 4m x 7m swimming pool which is all at one depth throughout making it suitable for playing pool games with no one having to put up with the deep end! . La Grange is surrounded by working farms and woodland.
All bed linen, towels and beach towels are included in the price.
The property is situated 20 minutes from Beaune, the wine capital of France, 40 minutes from Dijon, world famous for its mustard. Dole, the birthplace of Louis Pasteur is just 30 minutes up the road, whilst Chalon sur Saone, a lovely town with a medieval square overlooked by the 11th century Cathedral St. Vincent and full of bijou boutiques, bars, restaurants and much more, is 20 minutes up the road. Switzerland is just on the doorstep - Geneva being about an hour and a half away.
In Chalon sur Saone there is an olympic sized public swimming pool (budgie smugglers only guys!) that has slides and a wave pool, also in town bowling, go-karting, golf and plenty of shops to keep the ladies occupied. Don't worry guys, there are plenty of bars to wait in!
About 10 minutes outside of Chalon you will find Lac de Laives, the nearest thing to a seaside you can get so far from the coast. It's great for a family day out and offers a restaurant/bar, snack bar, pedalos and canoeing. There is a small beach area with a roped off shallow area for young children. It is also life guarded. The lake is surrounded with large shady trees under which you can sit and enjoy your picnic or barbeque.
Closer to home, fishing is abundant with Verdun sur le Doubs, the nearest small town just 10 minutes away, being the confluence of 3 rivers, Le Doubs, Le Petit Doubs and La Saône. In Verdun there are a few bars and restaurants. There is also a supermarket, filling station, bank and a public open air swimming pool (budgie smugglers guys!) which is spotlessly clean and has a bar:snack bar nearby. There is even a vet, should you want to bring your pet with you.
The nearest village, Ciel, has a good quality old fashioned butchers shop, a boulangerie, hairdressers, corner shop and a restaurant, La Marmite (cooking pot).

Fabulous!

By Aly and Bob on 07-Sep-2024

Had an amazing time. What better than relaxing on a night admiring the view and the sun setting on the horizon the gîte is in a great location, within a short drive of the Vignobles de Bourgogne, the Grand Cru villages and Beaune. A slightly longer drive to the fabulous city of Dijon. Equally you could just spend your time relaxing and enjoying the pool. But most of all, the owners, Sue and Dennis made us feel very welcome, like home from home. Our only regret, we had to leave! To crib a line... thanks 'Mam and Dad'!

A haven of peace and beautiful countryside!

By Alex & Phil on 17-Aug-2024

We have just spent a wonderful two weeks at La Grange with our family and pet dog (who was made most welcome). Comfortable and cosy, with all the conveniences of home. Many thanks to Sue and Dennis for all their kindness and hospitality...always going the extra mile to help when needed. And of course not forgetting the lovely swimming pool, especially nice when the weather is hot! Lots to do and many lovely places to visit nearby, such as Verdun-sur le-Doubs, Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saone. Hope to go back again for another holiday!

A welcoming, comforting and peaceful place to stay

By Jo Benjamin on 03-Aug-2024

We have been back to a number of times to this gîte (our son first came aged 11 months and he has just turned 6). Hosts Sue and Denis are always welcoming - present if we have questions and happy to give advice or just chat but not at all imposing. The scenery is beautiful in the quiet Burgundian countryside but there is plenty to do within easy travelling distance. The property is comfortable with all we need for a week away. We’re looking forward to coming back next year!

Amazing place

We wish we could have stayed longer. The house has everything you could need in a fantastic location. The owners are awesome and are there if you need anything, but let you get on with it and have your space. We will definitely be back!!

Highly recommended!

Lovely gîte in beautiful countryside surroundings, in travelling distance of attractions in Burgundy and Jura. Fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing break (with or without small children). The pool is great and a the friendly and helpful owners Sue and Dennis are generally on hand for ideas or advice. We’ve now been to stay with them 4 times and I suspect it won’t be our last visit.

Fantastic stay at La Grange

By Jamie Rigby on 15-Jul-2023

Sue and Dennis made us incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived, and were the perfect hosts. Always there if you needed them and very friendly, but didn't know they were there when you were busy enjoying your holiday or relaxing by the pool. La Grange is brilliant. Great location - lovely and rural, yet a short drive in the morning for pastries and pastis! Chalon-sur-Saome is the nearest large town and La Grange is ideally located for this, and many many other local attractions. The air conditioning units at La Grange worked perfectly during our stay, providing a comfortable nights sleep during the heat. The pool was wonderful for our young daughters, and very safe with faux grass around the poolside together with gated access. Beautiful views across the Burgundy countryside too. Perfect for a family stay!

Thank you so much Jamie xx
