Description

The Olive Garden is a “home away from home” in Provence. Comfortably accommodating 10 people, the villa is full of charm and intimate spaces. Located in the foothills of the famous Mont Ventoux, it sits nestled at the end of an Impasse between the picturesque local village of Caromb and outstanding National Forest.
The Villa
A large wooden door opens up into the enclosed garden and terraced area, with vines that cascade over a pergola and a host of olive trees, from which the house derives its name.
A side entrance door leads into the kitchen where windows create a wall that frames the garden beautifully, bringing light and a sense of the outdoors into the interior. This theme of light opening up in to the house from the outside sits within all the rooms at The Olive Garden, with french doors and intimate terraces and balconies giving the house its magical quality.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a large gas range oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and of course, a coffee machine! Within the same open space is a dining table seating 10 people, enabling everyone to socialize together along side the chef.
The lounge leads off the kitchen with 3 sets of french doors leading out to the pool area and onto a secluded balcony terrace, strewn with roses and vines; an intimate setting for aperitifs or morning coffee. There is a beautiful wood burner in the fireplace for winter visits to Provence, very warm and cosy and atmospheric.
Bedrooms: 4 doubles and 1 twin
Bathrooms: 3 bathrooms
Bedroom 1: On the ground floor is a double bedroom with large queen (160cm x 200cm) bed and french doors leading out to the pool area.
Bathroom 1: is ensuite to bedroom 1 with walk in tiled shower, wash basin and w.c.
Bedroom 2: There is another ground floor double bedroom with king size (200cm x 200cm) bed and double doors leading out into the main garden.
Bathroom 2: The central hallway houses an additional bathroom with walk in tiled shower, wash basin and w.c.
Bedroom 3: Upstairs is a bedroom with large queen (160cm x 200cm) bed and beautiful Romeo and Juliet balcony overlooking the garden below. Anther intimate space to share and enjoy.
Bedroom 4 and 5: There is a double bedroom with a decorative double (140cm x 190cm) sleigh bed and a further 5th bedroom with 2 single beds.
The first floor houses a family bathroom with a bath, W.C. and wash basin.
Outside:
The pool area leads directly off the main lounge for easy access. It has pool lights to create an atmospheric effect at night. There is a BBQ area and abri for shade. There are several sun loungers with cushions and chairs and tables for eating alfresco.
A few steps down from the walled in pool area is the garden, fully enclosed and hosting a variety of fruit trees and olive trees. It is very safe and picturesque with another large eating terrace and BBQ.
The Village:
The village of Caromb is a pleasant 10 minute walk down a quiet residential road. It is old and full of character, a medieval french town, with a central church and a winding labrynth of cobbled streets, archways and staircases to keep you guessing where the various bakeries are hidden. There is a fresh food market on a Tuesday, a variety of cafes and restaurants including a newly opened haute cuisine restaurant and trendy wine bar!
Caromb is one of a handful of beautiful hilltop villages that lie in the foothills of Mont Ventoux. It is an exquisite area of Provence, filled with character and charm. There are many walks that lead straight from the house into National Forest and the larger towns of Carpentras and Avignon are within easy reach.
Rental of Bikes and Other Services: We have a variety of road bikes that can be rented at the house. We can also provide guided tours. Please ask for more details.

Beautiful secluded villa close to town

By Frances Sparrow on 06-Aug-2023

Beautiful and well laid out secluded house. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of eating space. Nice size pool with plenty of space around it to sit. Comfortable beds. Two good showers. Could do with a third one upstairs though! 5 minute walk down a quiet lane to the town to get morning bread and pastries. A few good restaurants here too. A 2 mile walk with fab views up to the lac du Paty where you can swim and eat ice cream ( there is even a bar). Great location for visiting Château and tasting wine, seeing the lavender fields and going up Mont Ventoux. We had an excellent break and definitely were not ready to leave.

A beautiful, private villa, perfect for families nestled in the most beautiful setting.

This was our first stay in France and I can say that we were not disappointed! When we arrived, Peter was there to welcome us, guiding us around the house, giving suggestions for days out, before leaving us to settle in. It wasn't hard to settle in- this is the most beautiful house we have stayed in! Every room was spacious and beautifully presented- loads of room for all 3 of our families to relax and enjoy the holiday. The kitchen was well-equipped and the bedding and towels were clean and plenty! I particularly loved our room with the balcony overlooking the garden! Outdoors the property was equally impressive- the pool was perfect- the children just wanted to spend all day (and night!) in there! There was plenty of room for us to sit around the pool and keep an eye on the kids as they played and it got the sunshine all day! The garden itself was gorgeous- the kids loved exploring it, making games up and going on creature hunts. The patio and barbeque area were perfect for outside dining. There was plenty of parking space for all 3 of our cars and the area was quiet and secluded. The town centre was a short walk away and had plenty of places to eat and explore-the patisserie was particularly popular, with us visiting twice for birthday cakes! Yum! Thank you Audrey and Peter for letting us stay in your beautiful home- we will definitely rebook and recommend to others!

Magic!

By Jennifer M. on 28-Aug-2017

We just stayed at the Olive Garden for a week. We came to the area to bike ride and take in the sites. As soon as we entered the court yard, we knew we were somewhere special. The garden, stone work and glass were all beautiful. Each room was a beautiful vignette. We sat each night on the patio watching the sun set and play on the mountains with the sound of the breeze in the trees. It was truly a magical get-away. The house was very well appointed and located close enough to town to get whatever we needed but lovely and quiet at night. I would highly recommending coming with a group of friends or a couple of families with kids.

Lovely well maintained holiday home

Very comfortable and well equipped house within easy walking distance of the village. The pool and grounds were kept very clean by the friendly and helpful owners.
