Description

A traditional cosy cottage in an area of Outstanding Natural beauty, Mariner’s Cottage is in a very quiet location only 200 yards from the heart of Boscastle and its spectacular harbour, which is surrounded by picturesque buildings, many owned by the National Trust.

Mariners is set in a terrace of six cottages, originally built over 250 years ago to house the coastguards when Boscastle was a thriving port and fishing village. The whole terrace was devastated by the infamous flood of August 2004, after which Mariners Cottage was sympathetically restored using traditional skills and materials to ensure that the character of the cottage was preserved.

The cottage is accessed by seven steep slate steps down from the road and the entrance to the cottage is via a very narrow front door, although there is a full sized stable door to the rear of the property. There is a sitting room and kitchen/diner on the ground floor with stairs rising up to the first floor where there is a double bedroom with a 4’6” four poster bed, a second bedroom with a 3’ single bed and a bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. All leading off a central landing. To the rear of the property is a paved patio with garden furniture which is accessed by three steep slate steps. WiFi will be available from July 2021.

Boscastle village has some very interesting shops with welcoming pubs and restaurants, all within an easy short walk. No need to cook during your holiday, although the Mariner’s kitchen is very well equipped.

Short breaks available from 1st November to 1st April. Friday to Monday (3 nights) or Monday to Friday (4 nights) at two thirds of full week's price.

Mariners Cottage, Boscastle

Mariners Cottage, Boscastle This was our first time visiting Boscastle and what a lovely picturesque village it is. The cottage was a perfect size for myself my wife and our dog. We got married a couple days before so wanted something cosy and romantic to stay in. On arrival the cottage was tidy and clean which anyone would expect with a comfy bed and sofas. Even though it was warm while we were there we couldn’t resist using the fireplace with the wood kindly provided. The cottage is a stones throw from all the shops so was very pleased we could go for a nice meal and a drink and not have to march up the steep paths. We also had great signal and Wi-Fi with a box on the TV that allowed us to get Netflix so plenty to watch when we were relaxing in the evening. The hosts are really friendly and welcoming making sure we were all okay and settled. It was a perfect place to stay and made our little MiniMoon so much more enjoyable. We will definitely be recommending to family and friends and will definitely be back to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Thank you again for a perfect stay. Mariners Cottage, Boscastle

Thank you so much for yet another fantastic Mariners Cottage holiday! The cottage was bright and clean as usual, and nice and warm, so we didn’t bother putting the log stove on. Got to say, the weather the first week wasn’t so good, infact I had to buy a rain coat for my youngest dog, from the new shop by the cafe near the Harbour, great asset for dog owners! And the added bonus of decent wifi and phone signal this year, was epic - no more sneaking down to the Harbour for a quick latte at the National Trust cafe for a wifi fix!😄 Definitely coming next year again, thankyou! Mariners Cottage, Boscastle

Mariners Cottage, Boscastle Just returned from a wonderful week''s stay in lovely, peaceful Mariners Cottage. The cottage was so cosy, just a perfect base to explore wonderful scenic Boscastle, and the rest of Cornwall. The beds were so comfortable, and to have WiFi was such a great and thoughtful touch. It was so nice to return back after our many trips out to the stunning beaches (Harlyn Bay, Porthcurnow and Porthminister), the most beautiful pub and garden at St Kew Inn, Lands End, Bodmin Moor, to name a few. We highly recommend this wonderful corner of Boscastle, you will not be disappointed. It was a pleasure staying there, and hope to return again one day. — Danny, Chrissie & Kieran, 14 Aug 2021
