If you're a close-knit family who love to holiday together, or a group of friends looking for a get-away, the Old Farmhouse could be just what you're looking for. Set in 17 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside, this house has plenty of space for friends, grandparents, parents and children.

Booking the Old Farmhouse means that up to seven of you (plus an additional youngster) can escape to the country and enjoy a relaxing stay set in grounds of woodland and meadows with guest-only access to a large lake, streams and a half mile stretch of the River Fowey.
Rivermead is the perfect place to unwind with plenty for everyone. There's bird-watching in the hide, trying your hand at fishing the River Fowey for trout and salmon, having a game of boules, watching the sunset with a glass of wine, picnicking by the water's edge, building dens in the woods, enjoying the swings, splashing in the stream in your wellies looking for sticklebacks and froglets, or having an evening catch-up in the glow of the fire pit.
If there are more of you wanting to get away, there are six other characterful properties at Rivermead where up to 32 guests can be accommodated if you'd like to book the whole place, so no one needs to be left behind.
Believed to date back to the mid-1700s, the Old Farmhouse has bags of character with thick stone walls, original beams, creaky floorboards, staircase and inglenook fireplaces. It's a great choice for bringing the family together under one roof.
Downstairs, there's a comfortable lounge with three sofas and a log-burner providing a cosy place to meet up after a busy day's sightseeing and walking about in the fresh Cornish air. The lounge has a TV, Freeview and DVD player. There's BT broadband/wifi across the site to keep all the generations happy. For stays from September to April, the first basket of logs is provided with more available.
After a good night's sleep undisturbed by street lighting, you can join everyone for breakfast in the spacious dining kitchen which is well-equipped with a large wooden table with chairs and benches, an electric oven and hob, large fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and wealth of kitchen utensils. You can request a slow cooker and food processor if you want to cook rather than go out, but why not sample the wonderful array of restaurants just a short drive away? You'll also have a washing-up starter pack, tea towel and oven gloves provided for you, as well as a very welcome Cornish cream tea.
There are four bedrooms in the house: three upstairs and one downstairs. Downstairs, across the hall from the lounge, is a king-size bedroom which has original exposed beams and inglenook fireplace, bedside tables, hanging rail, dressing table and chest of drawers. This room is great for anyone with you who finds negotiating stairs difficult as it has access to a ground floor shower room with a shower cubicle, WC and wash basin.
The main bedroom on the first floor has a king-size bed, bedside drawers, wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table. Across the landing there's a beamed twin room with bedside drawers, a hanging rail and a dressing table. These rooms share a family bathroom with a full-size bath plus a separate shower cubicle, WC and wash basin.
The fourth bedroom has a single bed, a dressing table and a wardrobe. If you have small children, this room comes with the option of an added single pull-out bed (or a fold-up bed can be added to the downstairs bedroom, if needed). This bedroom, called the loft room, is reached via its own separate staircase so it's like a hidden bedroom, which young visitors love.
Shower room towels are provided as well as a bath mat, and all the bedrooms have a hairdryer. The bedrooms are south-facing to make the most of the views out towards the small private garden and the beautiful Glynn Valley.
Outside the Old Farmhouse, there's a small private lawn area and a gravel seating area complete with picnic table, parasol, benches, BBQ and rotary clothes line. The outside space is south-facing so makes a great spot for a chat with a coffee, listening to the river, sunbathing or watching the sun set over the trees. The house also has a small, secluded courtyard accessed through the kitchen door, with a table and chairs, perfect for lazy morning breakfasts in your PJs.
As well as exploring the woods, lake and river walks, Rivermead also has a fire pit in the grounds, which guests are welcome to use during their stay. Some guests find that they don't leave the site, as it's so peaceful being so close to nature, and that's what makes Rivermead Cottages the perfect relaxing place to get away.
If you plan to explore further afield, you'll have the perfect base. Rivermead is conveniently located half a mile off the A38 and is roughly half-way between Bodmin and Liskeard, both only a few minutes' drive away. Bodmin Moor, Looe, Charlestown and Fowey can be reached within 20 minutes. There are a host of attractions within easy reach such as the NT gardens at Lanhydrock, Bodmin Jail, Carnglaze Caverns, the Eden Project, Golitha Falls and Lantic Bay. You'll find a wealth of information leaflets and suggested walks in the Information Room.
