Overview
Description
If you're looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to relax and unwind in the country, Bluebell Cottage is perfect for you. It's a pet-free, self-contained two bedroom cottage within a converted traditional Cornish stone barn, dating back 300 years. The accommodation is all on ground floor level with ample space to unload your car and park right outside the door.We are trialling dynamic pricing in 2025 so for the most accurate price for the stay you'd like, please visit our website.
Bluebell Cottage is just off the A38, so it's accessible and easy to get here, but you'll be hidden away in the lush Glynn Valley surrounded by tranquillity and away from the hustle and bustle. You'll have exclusive guest access to 17 acres of woodland, meadows, a one and a half acre lake and almost half a mile of the beautiful River Fowey, where fishing for trout and salmon is included for our guests.
As you enter through the front door of the cottage, you'll find a cosy sitting room off to the left with two comfy sofas, TV, Freeview and a DVD player. There's a table and chairs enough for four to enjoy dinner together, or perhaps a hearty breakfast before heading out for the day to explore beautiful Cornwall.
Bluebell Cottage has two bedrooms. There's a light, airy main bedroom with a double bed, bedside drawers, a wardrobe and dressing table. Next door is a twin room with a dressing table and hanging rail, so plenty of space to spread out if you're coming as a couple. There are hairdryers in both rooms.
The galley kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for a self-catering stay. We will provide you with a washing-up starter pack, tea towel and oven gloves; although who wants to cook on holiday? Everything you'd expect to find in the kitchen is there - electric oven and hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere - and perhaps some things extra, including a Cornish cream tea on arrival. There's additional freezer space in the Information Room, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is BT broadband/wifi across the site.
Bluebell Cottage has a small shower room with an electric shower, WC and vanity unit and shower room towels and a bath mat are included. There's a great space just inside the front door for hanging coats - or sunhats and beach towels - and dumping bags and shoes. Just outside the door, you'll find your own picnic table, parasol and BBQ and the south-facing spot is quite a sun-trap in summer so it's a great place for a morning coffee, or a sun-downer.
Some of our guests don't leave Rivermead during their stay. There are walks around the lake, bird-spotting in the hide and picnic spots in the woods where you can settle down with a good book and maybe enjoy a glass of wine. You can find your inner-child on the rope swings, have a game of boules on the court or sit by the river and fish for salmon or trout. You might like to forage for firewood and have a camp fire at the fire pit and a bit of a sing-song!
If you are exploring further afield, you'll have the perfect base. Rivermead is about half-way between Bodmin and Liskeard. Bodmin Moor is 5 minutes away by car, and Looe, Charlestown, Fowey and Lostwithiel can be reached in less than 20 minutes. There's a host of attractions within easy reach such as the NT gardens at Lanhydrock, Bodmin Jail, the Eden Project, Golitha Falls, Carnglaze Caverns, and Lantic Bay. You'll find a wealth of information leaflets and suggested walks in our Information Room.

Perfect location
By Lee on 12-Jul-2024The location of Rivermead is perfect; lots of things to do/places to visit as it's fairly central. Beautiful grounds, perfectly kept. Will be recommending it to all our family and friends. There was everything in the cottage we needed. We loved Bluebell Cottage and it was spotlessly clean.
