Description

The Dove Cote & Summer House have been converted to offer Relaxing and Romantic holiday accommodation, the likes of which you won't find anywhere else. Uniquely original, within a stunning courtyard setting, they offer all the comforts you'll need for the perfect couples Dales short break holiday, with their own wood-fired hot tubs...

They both have stunning views of the nearby Grade I Listed Hornby Castle and from their Juliet balcony have far reaching rural views toward both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, and they both overlook the newly designed courtyard garden.

We are perfectly situated to enjoy all the attractions of the Yorkshire Dales & North York Moors National Parks and visitors will also be able to enjoy the beautiful towns and villages of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Richmond, Leyburn and a little further afield the Yorkshire coast, including our favourite Whitby.

The Summer House (Earl Grey)

Just look out of the round window from the Summer House over the fields of corn with Hornby Castle in view and you can't help feeling romantic. This, along with the story of the Earl of Holderness building Palladian style model farms at all four points of the compass from Hornby Castle, so his Italian wife would be reminded of home, made the romantic theme an obvious choice for the Summer House.

The Dove Cote (Darjeeling)

The Dove Cote is a special place where we hope you'll relax and rediscover yourself. The Dovecote (as the name suggests) used to house a flock of doves which gave us the idea for the theme, which is Relaxation. If you have ever listened to a flock of doves you'll understand why. Sit in your own wood-fired hot tub and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets over the woods, whilst sipping a glass of Prosecco.

Dove Cote a Little Gem!

By Michaela Right on 19-Sep-2023

Arrived late afternoon evening at Arbour Hill to a lovely woodland gate, surrounded by trees, flowers and even better the sound of peacefulness. I can honestly say I was taken back by the estate. Beautiful listed building with its still what is original features, with that old stone. Decorated beautifully in flowers and everything wildlife, nothing was out of place. But you had that warm home feeling which filled you with warmth. Karl and his family were very welcoming, Dove Cote was our place of stay whilst at Arbour Hill. And what a little gem it is, a warm cottage feel with everything you could need. Kitchen with all the appliances, wet room/bathroom which is just perfect. We was left a fresh baked loaf of bread, fresh eggs from the family hens and fresh butter. Accompanied by some Yorkshire Tea.. which is a lovely touch and much needed after a 3hr drive. Up the cute staircase, your sight is taken straightaway by the amazing view of everything green and wild. Just miles and miles of outstanding landscape, from your big round window and of which is the first thing you see when you open your eyes in the morning from the bed. ❤️. Original wooden beams, built in wordrobes and dimmer lights throughout. And if you really want to watch some tv, there is flat screen tv on the wall which gives you all channels and also the radio etc. not that you would need it on with the views. Our second day in, we’d been for a good few miles walk around the countryside and came back to wood fired hot bath tub/hot tub at the back of your dwelling. It was again another perfect touch, resting and soaking tired legs in hot steaming hot waters whilst overlook such beautiful surrounds and the countyside. You can request fresh loafs which are baked on site, eggs from the hens etc if you wish for more at a very small charge of £1.50 and of course we couldn’t resist. Melted butter on fresh toast and a cuppa in the morning is a must. I could go on and on about what is here, but the most important thing is.. I/we will definitely be back, I’d love to come back closer to Christmas or new year and again in the summer. It’s just so peaceful and away from all light pollution and noise. It’s such a refreshing change from city life. Thanks to Karl and his family for such a lovely stay. We will back soon. Thanks Michaela & Mark

What a Great Location...

By Paul Meakin on 12-Sep-2023

What a great location and very helpful owners we had a power cut it was not there fault but they was there to see if we kneaded anything straight away they came with candles in actual fact it made it better as there was no light pollution so star gazing was brilliant the fresh home made bread jam and butter with the fresh laid eggs was a nice touch

Great Location!

By Luke Hutchinson on 10-Aug-2023

We enjoyed a 3 night stay here and found the place perfect for getting away from it all, owners were very friendly and approachable and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome (Even having a loaf of freshly baked bread on arrival). The hot tub is a nice touch and easy to use and the location is handy for exploring the dales and also only 10 min to catterick if any shopping is needed.

A Serene Gem!

By Clairey-HUD on 25-Jun-2023

A hidden gem in the Yorkshire Dales. We stayed in Dove cottage aptly named after its previous residents. The cottage has access to a hot tub which is private and looks out over some beautiful scenery. The cottage is small and characterful with fresh bread and eggs laid by the residents. The finish to the cottage is high class and bespoke and the bed is extremely comfortable with a Juliet balcony looking out onto the serene setting (my only criticism would be that dressing gowns included would be an added bonus) The setting is stunning and the gardens are well thought out and immaculate. A lot of hard work has gone into this place and it certainly shows. I loved having the dog Maggie and the cat sooty visit us. The track leading up to the estate is long and has fields either side, I liked this as it made the hole place feel more remote which is what we wanted. The owners were on hand and helpful when needed. They have made a excellent job of this place and we will definitely be returning. The setting is perfect and tranquil and the surrounding villages are delightful to visit. We especially enjoyed Middleham and Hawes. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing Place!

By Rubyroos on 12-Jun-2023

We were searching for somewhere peaceful and quaint for a much needed break and we landed incredibly lucky here. We stayed in the Summer House and its very quirky, clean and well equipped. The fresh bread, eggs and butter were a lovely touch. We slept like a log on the first night and watched the sunrise the following morning. We opted for the Drop and Dip service so was nice to get in the hot tub and have prosecco with the sun setting. We were visited by Maggie the pup, Sooty the cat and even 3 chickens in the evening! Amazing. This place doesn''t disappoint. If you''re looking for romantic and peaceful in a fabulous location then book here!

Lovely Escape...

By Alison Downes on 20-May-2023

What a lovely little escape! Beautiful little cottage with great views. Spotlessly clean and Karl brought us eggs and fresh warm bread it was lovely. Try the hotub its private and the sun sets in the view. Unfortunately it clouded over but didnt spoil the view and peace and quiet. If you like a little early morning walk Karl can point you in right direct i suggest wellies!. Bedale 10 mins in car and try the pork pies and sausage rolls in the deli. Theres also lots of places to eat if you dont fancy cooking.Lovely little town and in the other direction theres Leyburn. We definately looking into having another little getaway here this year!
